1. Paris, France
2. Munich, Germany
3. Tuscany, Italy
4. Scotland
5. Ireland, Dublin
6. London, England

All of these are amazing! honestly, go as many places as you can- and dont listen to stereo types- germany is AMAZING!

Mark
dont be sily there is no such thing as the nazis anymore, the germans are nice people, just really loud, i wouldnt consider going there, or places like czech republic and the far east or europe, but most people from europe go holidays to spain, especially the canary islands, it has just bet florida in the top holiday destinations of the year, other places to go are italy, france, switzerland is amazing for ski-ing and malta, u could come to the u.k for city

gnomus12
Haha, you need to definitely experience Europe. Germany has some Nazi wannabes, but they aren't all Nazis. Wherever you go you will find charm and each country has it's own uniqueness.

Go to France, Italy, Germany...or to get a taste of all three go to Switzerland (South is Italian, East is German, West is French).

Spain is Awesome (Madrid, Malaga, Barcelona)
Greece is Awesome (San Torini, Athens)
Portugal is a cool place (Lisboa)
Netherlands...well, they have Amsterdam...so a definite must go!!
Sweden is great, nicest people in the world (Stockholm).
UK...nice place (I prefer to experience the non-english speaking areas though.

I can't really say not to go anywhere...wherever you go there will be the shady people that freak you out. Just be smart, don't be too trusting, and be careful...this is a philosophy to apply eveywhere in the world anyway.

I would love to go to the former soviet countries...one day...

They say that "ignorance is bliss" and at this point I would suggest you take one of two paths

(a) stay at home living in your little world & ideology

OR

(b) get out and travel - BUT, open your mind, go without pre-concieved notions and stereotypes. Meet people, experience things first-hand, and then come back and ask more informed questions.

After all, a question is only a reflection of the asker!

Nazi's? Lol.
I would say pop into London. It's a busy city with lots to do. I recommend going to a show in the West End (Phantom of the Opera is exceptional), visiting some famous landmarks and if you are that way inclined, go to some museums. Most are free. The National Gallery is really good.
Oh, and make sure you go on the London Eye, it promises the best view of London even if it isn't the prettiest city. To me it is!

personally i understand your fear, but just because someone is german does NOT mean they are a nazi. trust me. germany is very safe and full of kind people. im german and so is my family and we're not nazis. all of europe is beautiful and don't let any countries past scare you. i went to berlin and it was the best trip i have ever taken. it had history, culture, food. everything. try to see it. and berlin is a very safe city.

Pick up a book, read a paper. WWII is over and has been for quite some time. You should make your way to Scotland...

I travelled around europe, I would suggest all of western europe. Don't miss these cities - London, Paris, Barcelona, Athens, Amsterdam, Zurich, Munich, Berlin, Rome, Prague, Copenhagen, Stockholm. The best way to travel is with a train pass, I used Interail because I'm from the UK, the international pass is called the Eurodomino. You can literally stay in a city for a few days, hop on a night train and wake up in another country, it's a lot of fun. Make sure you get a copy of a train timetable book for the whole of europe, I lived by mine. Also watch out as some trains require a reservation you can't just get on - it's easy enough to make a reservation just before your train arrives though.
And no, germany is not full of nazis, that's like saying America is full of witch-hunting puritans.

you should come to Romania
i`m sure you have heard of Dracula and you could visit his home ( castle )

Germans are DEFINITELY NOT nazis anymore. You should come to Serbia. People are nice and friendly. All foreigners who have been to Belgrade (capital of Serbia) say that they love the Serbian hospitality. We have nightclubs, universities, and a panoramic view on the Sava and Danube rivers. You must come!

How much time are you spending there, and where in Europe are you going to begin your travels? Europe consists of many countries with small and large cities. My wife and I have traveled extensively through several European countries, the ones we want to return to include:
England, Wales, France, Italy, Spain and Holland.
You kind of need to decide what you want to see and do before I can make any real suggestions. Like the beach? Museums? Historical buildings? All of these will play a part in deciding your itinerary.
Hope this gives you something to think about.
Good Luck!

You'll be fine in Germany. People come off as rude, but they're very friendly.
I believe Athens, Greece is the best European spot - prices aren't that bad, food is great, and its about the only place you can get service with a smile. Amsterdam is the worst - insane prices, poor service, too much homolove for me to stomach.

Added: It surprised me, but Paris is a much nicer, cleaner city than London. It is also much more affordable. Not that London is terribly bad... Rome can be hard to travel around - there are only two metro lines and the sites are expensive (18 Euro for entrance to the Colosseum.) Czech is great for shopping. Hit up Karlovy Vary if you want porcelain or china; Prague is great for sight seeing. There's not much to do in Brussels, but the food is amazing. The Austrian mountains have some incredible hidden castles and fortresses. Venice, Italy is every bit as sweet as you've heard. Munich is great, too. Barcelona is strange - its like 10 different countries in one city.

Slovenia! Lots of wonderful landscapes, friendly people who speak great English, very warm weather (over +30C by the Adriatic coastline especially in Portoroz) in the summer, cheap indeed...
