Where should I go for my holiday this summer?

There would be 5 of us going:

We were thinking either Amsterdam, Paris, Brussels, Rome or Venice?

I went to Paris before and absolutely loved it, it was amazing and I know if I go again it will be brilliant, but maybe a change would be good? Also, I speak French pretty well, so languages for the others are issues (I like to speak the langauge to the place I am going, I think it is polite) depending on how difficult it is to pick up the language to a tourist level.

What do you think?

Good point didn't consider Barcelona! Added to the list.

Rome! Venice is filthy, I was there and hate it, although they did have some amazing artwork

So, there's 5 of you and you've mentioned 5 destinations.

It's obvious.
You draw lots for who goes where - each person takes a camcorder and - bingo!

5 holidays.

I'm Macedonian!!!
Ohrid, Macedonia, lovely place

I also loved paris for the options it has there.
In the same way I found Amsterdam VERY disappointing and 3 days was too long there....so I don't recommend it as a place to stay for more than a day or so.

Brussels is nice actually....I loved the main square there...its probably my favourite one that I visited....its also not far from Bruges ( Brugge) which is a lovely quaint town worth a look.

Rome is kind of like Paris in that there is quite a bit to do and see ( but I prefer Paris)...you can go on some day trips to say Pompeii, Sorrento etc which are great.

Venice is quite small and you can see it all pretty much in 2 days ( while walking around it several times!)....its definately different to other cities and is worth a look for that aspect alone ( but the back streets are a bit dank and dim and VERY narrow some of them)....you can go to the Murano glass factory which I hear is great.

Barcelona was nice and the Gaudi architecture is stunning!
I only spent a day here so I can't really comment on it.

I actually loved Prague a LOT....its very pretty and nice to walk around ( even thro it rained every day I was there!!)...I went on a day tour to Cesky Krumulov which is a lovely town in Southern Bohemia and has a castle with bears in the moat!

I also loved Croatia for being different. It had heaps of history and STUNNING coastlines. Dubrovnik is lovely, but small like Venice and 2 days is proably all you need....if you hire a car ( apprently the way to go as otherwise is buses....no trains up the coast) and drive to Split. I understand the National park lakes...something starting with P....is absolutely stunning, but I guess you want a city to stay in by the sounds of it rather than touring around.....Croatia is a cheap option compared to the other options ( and Prague is cheaper than others too).

I would recommend Prague or Rome as my picks.....
