Where should we go for our first holiday abroad?? |
We have 3 children between 3-6 years old and we would like
to go for a holiday abroad. I've never been out of England so
have no idea! We would like to go somewhere on a normal
passport, with a beach close to the accomodation
and where the sea is warm. A quiet place with only the beach
and a few amusement-type of things would be nice, we don't
need pubs and clubs obviously. Where do you think we could
go?
Also, can you book 2 adults and 3 kids for one room in a
hotel? I wouldn't like to have any of the kids in another room,
for safety reasons. Also, can you book chalet type
accomodation for holidays abroad, like you can in England?
And on the flight would we all be guaranteed to sit together?
Don't ask a lot, do I???
Thanks, if anyone can help!!!!!!!! |

This one is easy for me because I used to work for a travel company.
For several reasons I would suggest Majorca for your first holiday abroad.
1. It's a short flight, app. two and a half hours.
2. The weather is nice.
3. Most of the hotels cater for children.
4. I don't know of any of the popular hotels that are not within walking distance of the beach.
5. Lastly I've been to them all, one of the onerous tasks I had to perform several times. Ho! Ho! Ho!
I would even go so far as to suggest the Sol Mirlos/Tordos hotels, the Mirlos is half board the Tordos is all inclusive, don't be put off by the Flinstones theme, the children will love it, I'm over sixty and I enjoyed it, because they are sister hotels next to each other, whichever one you stay in you can use the facilities of both. It's 120 metres from the beach.
They have a limited number of rooms that will take you all in one room and those rooms get booked up quickly.
I've taken the liberty of adding a photograph of me outside the Tordos because I'm an old photographer, but a newcomer to posting photographs.

Menorca is the answer to ,your question without a doubt, it has all the things you have stipulated, we prefer the west coast around the cala `n` Blane's, los Delphine's and cal `n` forcat area but it is all good on this island.
i don't know about chalets but you can book villas it sounds like you would be better self catering i would recommend just browsing the Internet for the best option for you, as for you flight you can pre book however the seating is usually alloted so you are all together any way, good luck with whatever you do. oh by the way the beach at cala `n` Blane's is not too big and we always feel our children are safe in the sea (shallow) if you decide on a villa their are loads and loads. once again good luck. |

Cala d'or and cala egos are beautiful place to go in spain. These places cater for everyone. Thay have lots of beautiful coves, the beaches are lovely and it also has lots of entertainment for the kids and parents. There is a beautiful harbour in cala d'or too. They do have lots of villas next to the beach. some hotels differ in room occupancyso you have to enquire when booking. I think if you request to be sat together you can but i also think they charge extra for this service. if you contact your local travel agent i'm sure they could inform you. hope this has helped.. |

Go to a travel agent, they will be better able to help you. Plus they will have guides at the other end, so you don't have to deal with trying to communicate with someone who doesn't speak your language.
As for hotels, you can easily get family rooms, but I imagine you would need to book early. You will be able to sit together on the flight if you book early, and more importantly check in early on your day of travel. Most airlines are accommodating of people trying with young children. |

For a first time holiday abroad i would say go somewhere like Salou it's quiet and only a 2-3 hour flight (depending on airport). You can get family rooms in most hotels or apartments, as for sitting together don't book it through travel agents just get to the airport in time for the check in opening and you will get seats together (never paid to be seated together but always got it!!!!!)
Go to travel agents tell them what you want and how much that you are prepared to pay they are all fighting for custom so they should do you a good deal. |

try Le Touquet in France, it's not far from Calais and has a nice beach and usual seafront activities, lots of hotls of various types, you should be able to get what you need there, i've been there and can recommend it if you have 3 kids |

We have been to the Algarve region in Portugal (stayed in a 2 bedroom flat at Rocha Brava) and to Med coast in Spain (stayed near Marbella in a 2 bedroom flat). Both were very nice, had plenty to entertain our oldest (he was 4 when we went to Spain, 3 in Portugal).
As for getting a room I would say you will need an apartment ot flat, not a hotel room. Most family rooms will only sleep 4 people, not 5. Even then I have had problems finding rooms for a family of 4 sometimes. |

try one of the travel agents. Spain would suit you, or one of the canaries. as for your room i'd go with an apartment, you can sleep loads in them and you;d all be together. as for flights etc check with your travel agent! |
