I always know where I am going for my holidays...to Athens first then by ferry over to the Island of Poros for my wonderful visit and stay with Zefi & Takis at their Saga Hotel!
The beaches up around Marmaras, Halkidiki area in Northern Greece are really nice. The one there where I have gone 2 summers for a few days of my visits was not over run with lots of "tourist", nice walk into the town area (I didn't like it..I'm from the states lol), very good beach side restaurants, very friendly ones at the beach-side bars for coffees or drinks.
So either Poros or Halkidiki is always my choice. Athens is where I base at family of family's home. They have adopted me it seems and I call the one I stay with my sister now.

Oia Dweller
If you are after a relaxing holiday, with sublime views and clear waters to die for...try Oia Santorini. Arguably the most picturesque village in the world. Not cheap....but its a once in a lifetime experience. Having said that...if you come hre once..you will never forget it...you will mind travel back here for the rest of your life. Google Oia and see the images for yourself. Enjoy ;-)

The Greek Islands, They are always hot and sunny and plenty to do if you want to or laze on the beach.

Cape Town or Mauritius if you can afford it!

If you're thinking Europe, it's really up to what you like out of a holiday..

Portugal or of course Ibiza if you like the clubs
Greece for the grub and more of a chilled out holiday
Italy if you like sight seeing

Apparently Croatias a really good destination nowadays, but I cant say myself

there is only one problem about going somewhere sunny this year, the state of the pound against the euro, we went to spain a few weeks ago, and prices are not cheap, even just a portion of chips was 4 euros 50 cents which in pounds makes it £4, wow, for a few chips

In my personal opinion i think i would visit Honduras, Islas De la Bahia
the beaches are nice and the area is very historical and calm.

Croatia is lovely, sunny and has stunning coastal views. Its once of my favourite places.....Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar are all nice. Zargreb is bigger but inland and has a completely different feel to the coastal towns.
Hiring a car would be agood idea, as I was travelling by myself it didn't work out as cheaply as buses.

I can recommend Beacon isle Hotel in Plettenberg Bay (South Africa). Lovely place. It's in the Indian Ocean so the water is warm and safe for swimming in. The best time to go is February, it's out of season, cheaper, no crowds and congestion, 28 to 30+ temperature, so serious sunbathing can be had. Just type in Beacon Isle Hotel and see it online. Magic place honestly.

Why not try Istanbul in Turkey? It's cheap and the flight is less than 4 hours. I have to admit it was not my number one choice of holiday destination, however one of my friends decided he wanted to get married there so I flew out for the wedding and it was amazing. The people are so warm and friendly and the weather is beautiful. The nightlife is great also. You would have a great time in Istanbul.
