Where would you suggest to go on holiday in Europe?

It is more of a family holiday so we're not looking for clubs but we would like nice restaurants etc. We don't want to go anywhere too expensive preferably a beach holiday with nice places to visit - would be nice to see culture etc. Where would you suggest we go?

Santorini Greece is a quaint seaside town with great seafood and a sunset that is unbeatable

Greece, try to find a coastal town/village

For a good mixture of culture and beaches I would say Greece, Italy or Spain.

Just about anywhere in Italy. There's culture by the bucketload, it's surrounded by beaches and the locals love children.

Try Rapallo. Fly to Pisa and take the train. There's beaches and boat trips and plenty of culture. You can take the train for days out in Pisa, Genoa and Cinque Terre. See http://www.residenceilconvento.com/

Croatia ia a wonderful place. There are beaches and islands to go to and the coastline is wonderful! Dubrovnik and Split are lovely towns on the coast to go to, but Zadar is also worth a look.

Hiring a car is probably the best way to go as there are no trains up and down the coast and when I was going there seemed to be a lot of car hire places as its obviously more cost effieicent for a family ( i was travelleing by myself).

I was amazed at the history of Croatia that I had no idea about and the food is quite seafoody. The national park (lakes) is apparently very nice but I missed out on those.

A few years ago we went to Denia, in Spain

It's got a beach, commercial port and marina, piers, an annual tradition that is a bit like "running of the bulls" but it's on the waters edge and the bulls chase locals into the sea! (great fun to watch!), an old castle, and I think there were some beautiful caves/springs nearby (driving) as well.

As you are only getting 1 euro to the pound a holiday in the UK is half the cost of a holiday anywhere else in Europe. What about Scotland? There are incredible beaches and you can't beat Edinburgh for culture - especially the Fringe and the Tattoo. There are amazing restaurants, clubs, theaters etc. As it is "Homecoming Year" and 250 yrs of Rabbie Burns there are lots of special events too.
A lot of people don't realise that Edinburgh has a great beach and just across the amazing Forth Rd Bridge are some more fantastic beaches in Fife.
