aghia marina on the isle of aigina near Athens
i went there 10yrs ago and still remember it's beauty
also the beach was so clean and nice
brilliant for kids to have a dip in the sea as you can go into the sea for quite a distance without it being deep
and the PEOPLE who live on the island where so friendly
so after 10 yrs i still have fond memories
and will one day return
so give it a go
especially if you have children
bet you love it
best wishes have a great time wherever you go
PS stay away from Majorca in June 7th to 21st
I will be there for my first visit and would not like you to bump into me
and have your holiday spoiled
so go on enjoy yourself |

Depends on what you want. I went back after 20 years to Folegandros to find it had been made a bit tame and was not the raw Eden it had been.
What a shame. I hope that the same culture has moved on to somewhere else.
Discovering Greek Islands was once a great pleasure. Whta i did find was that there were the same likeable young Euroepans on the boats as there were so many years ago, but it was harder for them to explore.
Tourism has become essential commodity rather than coincidental, but out of the way small islands still have this charm
Anafi
parts of Milos and Amorgos
Sikinos
Folegandros is still beautifully dramatic in the same way as Santorini.
The Cyclades have the most range, but the Dodecanes have good parts - Rhodos is large and diverse.I found n the Sporades very pleasant in a Majorca or south of France sort of way but that was all. Saronic islands are almost suburbs of Atrhens and the Ionic Islands - some are suberb once you get away from Corfu/kerkera. |

Every island has its wn beauty, but my favourite islands are:
- Santorini http://www.vrsantorini.com/images-of-santorini/
- Paros http://www.greeka.com/cyclades/paros/paros-pictures.htm
- Kefallonia http://www.greecead.com/gadhome/resort-kefalonia.html |

that would depend on what you are looking for. we have been with young children and found that Kos and Corfu were fabulous - quiet sandy beaches, clean pools, family friendly restaurants and bars and public transport where the driver gets out and helps you fold the buggy and put it in the luggage hold and even lets the little ones have a turn of pressing the button which opens the bus doors (this was in Kos). If you want nightlife, shopping and holiday flings, I'm afraid I cannot comment, but we'll be going back to the Greek islands many more times before we get tired (although we're off to Turkey this year for a change) |
