Today's Independent on Sunday has a good overview:
http://www.independent.co.uk/travel/europe/the-complete-guide-to-turkish-shores-898573.html
There is so much variety in Turkey that it is impossible to recommend just one place without knowing what you like.
Some of the high spots are :
Istanbul - Beautiful, historical city with a fascinating mix of East and West including lively night life.
Cappadocia - Stunning landscape and history. A balloon trip is recommended.
The Turquoise coast - Sun, sea, sand and ruins. A gulet trip is a must.
Wherever you go you are assured a wonderful welcome. The weather and food are great too! |

Ephesus is interesting.
To be honest when you get away from the tourist resorts most of Turkey is interesting and the Turks are really friendly people. |

it really depends on your preferences.
if you prefer a sun&beach&sea holiday, our western and Mediterranean coasts are perfect places.Bodrum,Marmaris,Fethiye,Antalya area is highly recommended.
if you are interested in history Turkey is the right place again. From the ancient times up today Anatolia, the land that Turkey located today, has always been described as the heaven on earth. That's why hundreds of different empires lived in Anatolia.Istanbul is 2010 Europe's Culture Capital and there are lots of palaces,mosques,cathedrals..etc to visit there.

Visit the Fethiye area. Not so much of the tourist-ism but a marvellous base to travel to many interesting places - the gorgeious Blue Lagoon at Olu Deniz, Ephasus, Pammukale, Dalyan etc and many other areas within reach. The people are really friendly there and welcome everyone. |

İf you want sun sand sea bars clubs İ recommend Alanya,Marmaris.
You can get a charter flight just to land otherwise to Antalya.Than you explore 250 km on west side and east side of Antalya.Rent a car and decide where to stop.
İf you want to feel in another planet try Cappadocia.
By the way this andrew guy:Turkey is not any mediterennean coast that you go and you treat everyone like shet. You want to live in your shell then stay at home.People go on holiday not only to get a sun tan you should be ready to meet another culture. |

You Make Me Love You

Go to Marmaris or Icmeler. Just got back from Icmeler last week it was absolutely fantastic. They're the most lively places in Turkey. The locals are friendly and the beaches are nice. If you ask me which ones better, i'd say Icmeler. Marmaris is a bit too lively and overcrowded and the locals aren't as friendly as the ones in Icmeler. |

We went to Mamaris it put us right off. It was like Blackpool with sun (only not as nice). Everwhere there were bars selling 'Full English Breakfast' with Manchester United on giant screen!!
I can get that at home. Plus all the traditional 'English' food (Mickey Macs, BurgerKing etc). |
