For a truly magical and different Christmas how but Moscow. It is wonderful - snow covered, fantastic decorations and the best part everything is open on Christmas day cause they celebrate orthodox Christmas a week later. I've been all over the world for Christmas and this one is still my favourite.

Paris would be my second choice.

If you can afford it there is only one place to go, New York, you would love it for shopping and great nights out, if you are looking in the uk I would say Oban in Scotland, its gorgeous.

Jerusalem is a fantastic place to visit over xmas. On Christmas eve you can walk to Bethlehem, or just enjoy the atmosphere of old Jerusalem with it's narrow streets and bazaars. Its a special place, full of history and unique experiences that you'll remember forever.

I highly recommend Prague. It's magical at Christmas. Even in time for New Year's celebration if you plan on staying long. You won't regret it.

I'd recommend Groningen in the Netherlands, it's not very well known but it is a small and friendly city and pubs, restaurants, etc. stay open on Christmas day, although you need to make a reservation at a restaurant if you're planning on eating out on the 24, 25 or 26 December.

Its gotta be Sydney in Australia. I went out there for Xmas in 2005, best xmas ever. Its there Summer throughout December as well. We had our Christmas turkey in the bbq in the garden by the pool in 35 degrees heat. Beats a miseraable cold, wet, white christmas. Although if u like a white christmas its gotta be Austria. I suppose it depends weather or not you want a traditional xmas or looking for some sun.

cfcbluesgirl
gotta be New York
i hear its fab over christmas and if you can stay for the new year aswell.
bet ull av a fantastic time.
