Which country is better to live in Sweden or Norway? |
As a foreign student who wants to study at university and wants to learn the language of that country very well which is better? I want to find a job easily. at the same time I'd like to manage my expenses because I'm not loaded at all.I'd like to socialize with friendly people. Finally I want to be a permanent resident. Although I know there are many similarities between these 2 countries but according to what I said which one is better for me, Sweden or Norway?? |

You've got 4 MAJOR hurdles to jump for both of those countries: 1. the job, 2. expenses, 3. become a permanent resident, 4. find friendly people.
Though they are rather polite and fair minded, they don't particularly need you, and unless you're the bomb in terms of good looks, they might just totally leave you alone. I found they can be very standofffish. As for differences, Norway has more mountains and rugged fjords, but Sweden is flatter. I found Stockholm more attractive than Oslo, but both were clean, quiet, and expensive. I think Sweden considers itself superior, so maybe Norway would be friendlier in the less arrogant sense. I actually think Denmark would be more fun than the 2 you mentioned.
Remember they must give preference to their own citizens in terms of hiring, and they are rather tired of people that move there and try to live on the social welfare system. For that they usually have more sympathy to those in war-torn countries seeking asylum from difficult circumstances.
The languages are really fun and interesting to learn and play with, and they'll be impressed to see a foreigner learn them well. |

Firstly if your wanting to study in Sweden or Norway you'll have to show that you can support yourself before you'd get a student permit, basically if you aren't loaded you might need to re think. The immigration departments give details.
Secondly unless you have a first degree you won't find a course in one of the public universities that isn't taught in the native language.
Finding a job after your studies depends on what you study and the state of the economy at the time. No easy answer to that.
Permanent residency would only come from your visa status. A student visa doesn't contribute to that so until you have a visa that does you won't get it.
Better is where you'll get the best education, you can always move afterwards for work as the languages are similar as spoken dialects, though quite different as written languages |

I think that Norway might suit you more. Norway isn't part of the E.U. for good reasons. It has nothing to do with isolationism. Both countrys are expensive places to live. Politically the Swedes are more socialist. Culturally there is little diference. |

There both quite expensive places to live, certainly on the socialising part.
From what you said it's difficult to say which is better for you, they are both lovely countries with friendly people.
Norway has consistently been in the top 3 counties to live in the world according to the UN. It was number one for a few years but was overtaken by Iceland in 2008. It wouldn't get that accolade if it wasn't a great place to live. |

For me, I would have to go with the one with the warmer climate. That is because I HATE the cold. |

That depends.. Sweden, according to the UN, is the 5th best country to live in.. Norway.. I think it's on 3rd place.. BUT Norway is also a lot more expensive.. Sweden is also expensive but you know.. not as expensive as Norway. But pay is also better in Norway hence the higher ranking so you'll have a "better" life. I doubt you'll really notice the difference. Sorry about giving "H" a thumbs up.. that was supposed to be a thumbs down :S. Idiot (not me.. him.. the EU sucks.. Swedes and Germans give more to the EU per capita than anyone else and we get very little in return. Basically we aid the eastern nations so they can immigrate here and commit crimes (trafficing (just look at our most wanted list if you find it.. funny what their names are), drugs, just pure violence etc, Norway please don't join! I want to get out of it.. and probably most other people too). Asker.. since it's more expensive in Norway it's even more important to find a job fast.. Just think about that. |

I would say Sweden. Norwegians are more insular as not part of the EU. |
