Surely you must be aware that the island is divided, with a border in between! Turkish in the north, and Greek Cypriot for the main part. So, it is Greek Cypriot Pounds for Akrotiri, on the Greek side. |

While I have never been to Cyprus I would, by experience imagine that any 'hard' currency will be accepted - so a few GB Pounds might help - but I think that I would make sure that I had a supply of Euros!
Don't forget that if you have a credit/debit card you can always get the local currency from a cash machine - otherwise take some Sterling travellers cheques and change them for the local currency.
If you change your cash into a 'soft' currency you will have a great deal of trouble and expense changing it back again into a 'hard' currency. |

that depends on which side you are visiting! Here in Cyprus we have a lot of areas called akrotiri. Now if you are going to Paphos, Limassol, Larnaka, Nicosia you will need Cypriot pounds. But if you are going to Famagusta, Kerynia and the other half Nicosai you will need Turkish Lira. |
