i havent had any problems in other european countries and would find it hard to name one, i suppose i had the most problems in france where my limited french wasn't enough to encourage them to help me in their english however much they had, in a couple of occasions. otherwise no more problem there than anywhere else. |

I have been to about 10 different countries in Europe and just got back from Amsterdam and Belgium. I would say Holland is as accepting as any, if not the most, plus they speak the best English for a non-English speaking country. I think for the most part that most countries there will be very accepting of you if you are respectful of their culture, show genuine interest in their way of life, and aren't loud, obnoxious, and ignorant as some Americans can act. |

thats a very very loaded question, which cant be answered without 1) making a generalization 2) implicating that others countries are non/less-tolerant and 3) offending people
HISTORICALLY, the dutch were more tolerant of people of differing colors/backgrounds/religions/etc
(book in link below is quite fascinating)
if youre asking in regards to travel, you should NOT find a problem ANYWHERE in europe (though i can name 1 popular generalization) |

It depends just why the foreigners are there !
Most european countries are very friendly towards tourists.
It's the "illegal immigrant" foreigners that most people have a problem with - and quite rightly so !! |

Sweden and Norway. Sweden has taken in more Iraqi refugees than any other European country. It's their culture to help foreigners. |

Sweden has a good reputation in this area. We emigrated from the UK to Sweden and have had a very warm welcome. Almost everyone under 60 speaks english too so that's a bonus. |

I went to Italy last May and I was treated fairly well. But, that may be because I look more Asian than American. Still, Italian peoples are very friendly. |

I don't agree that Sweden is very tolerant and accepts refugees!!!
For example a few years ago they didn't want to accept 100 of our Bulgarian gypsies and they deported them immediately. |
