Which language is more beneficial in Europe, German or French?

I speak both English and Spanish, and I know French is more important internationally than German, I wish to move to Europe one day.

Contrary to what many people said, French is more important in Europe and in the world.
The French is the second international language, with 54 countries speaking French.
In Europe, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg speak French. In the world, the French is the second most learned language after English.
German economy is bigger than the French economy but the Germans are very good in foreign languages and French is the official language of many great associations alongside English.

So, you should learn French.

French is seen as better for jobs in the EU and United Nations , although German is also goood

It depends on where you want to go to.
If you want to go to a French speaking country like France, Belgium, Luxembourg or Switzerland then learn French.
I
If you want to go to a German speaking country like Germany, Switzerland, Austria or Belgium then learn German

Overall, I would say French is more beneficial, as my opinion is that German speakers typically speak English much better than French Speakers.
Also, French is more useful globally, as German isn't spoken outside of Europe but French is spoken everywhere pretty much.
Also, as you speak Spanish already, French will be relatively easy.

German, because in Europe more than 100 million speak this language. Most countries speak Germany (as said in previous post) and for businesses it is essential. Germany has a huge business economy. It's a difficult language, but's its way more popular than French. French used to be a big, important, language. It is not so anymore, even though it may be beautiful and poetic.

HoneyBabe
hey i think German i think its more beneficial!! lol :)

Dave
Germany has a bigger economy (in the business sense). German is either an official language or is spoken by a significant portion of the population in the following countries:

• Argentina
• Austria
• Belgium
• Germany
• Italy
• Liechtenstein
• Luxembourg
• Namibia
• Romania
• Switzerland

German! Its spoken by far more people than French. Plus Germany has the largest economy in Europe, so i guess business wise German. Although French does sound so lovely when spoken properly.

If you already know English and Spanish it will be easier for you to learn French than German.

But if you are determined to move to Europe one day you should learn the language of the country that you intend to move to. It won't help you much if you learn German now and later end up in Italy, because your German will be almost useless in Italy. To work in Italy you need to speak Italian, to work in Poland you need to speak Polish, etc.

From my perspective you would be best off if you improved your Spanish to the point where you are able to follow university lectures in (Castilian) Spanish. (Assuming you are a native speaker of English.) Then seek to move to Spain, the UK or Ireland.

French has been losing ground in the EU a bit and is harder to learn than German, so I'd say German. In addition, I'd recommend you learn one language first and then it's easier for you to learn the other one (as in, study German and it will be easier to learn French).

But, depends on where you want to travel/live.

dart
Yes.

It really depends where you plan to be.

French is more beneficial, in general, worldwide. It is considered the international business language.

German will help you learn many of the other languages.

French will be a breeze to learn because you already know Spanish...so much of the concepts are the same because they are both Romance, and they also share a lot of root wordage.

The main official language of the EU and Europe is English by a mile.French is not really taught as a compulsory subject anymore. After English,l would say Spanish is worth learning,as you will be able to communicate with Portugese and some Italian, and a lot of soutern french speak spanish and even romanian is easy to learn once you speak spanish.Add in Mexico and cantral and south America a few WI islands (cuba) French is going no where and German is not far flung enough to bother, plus what an ugly sounding language
