Have you considered Prague? Beautiful, beautiful city. |

I have been to all four and they all have their advantages, why not visit them all. Of the four I would recommend Budapest as the most beautiful, Copenhagen as the most relaxed. Barcelona has Gaudi's amazing cathedral and Stockholm is very laid back, but very expensive.
Budapest; For sights and 'interesting' food, cheap eats, good beer; Tokai, exploring castle hill, (go up on the cyclo the old funicular) and finish off by shopping on Vaci Utca.
For atmosphere and general friendliness; Copenhagen, make sure you visit Tivoli at night for good old fashioned fairground fun. Visit the Carlsberg brewery, those beautiful churches with entwined dragons on the spires and see the chocolate box soldiers outside the royal palace. |

Been to Barcelona and Copenhagen loved both but thought Copenhagen was a little expensive and not as romantic as Barcelona.
Fav Romantic city would be Florence though |

I went to barcelona in july and it was so awesome. The archtitecture was amazing, the ambience was gorgeous and the food was top notch + cheap. There is so much to see, and everything is intruiging.
I must say for fairness tho that I havnt been to any of the other cities. |

Stockholm and Copenhagen are expensive, especially for drink. Pity because they are both lovely.
Barcelona is warm and has great sights, Budapest is a bit colder in winter, but also has great sights, but it has all these super Turkish baths and spas and they're dirt cheap.
Depends on when you're going and what you want to do. |

1) Krakow....Poland...lovely place...you can also have day trips to visit Zakopane for snow and mountains(1.5 hours by bus south...and Auschwitz (1.5 hour by train )....if you want to feel sad....
2) Sibui and/or Brasov...Transilvania...Romania(only one hour apart by train..fly to Bucharest(wizz airlines)...then train up to Brasov(3 hours)...a fine medieval little city
3) Kiev..if not....Odessa.......Ukraine
4) Berlin...Germany
5) Moldova....nice and cheap
6) Split in Croatia...then boat over to pretty and peaceful Hvar island
Book ya rooms with hostelbookers or Hostelworld.....get a cheap flight(december prices go up)...better to book sep/oct and march/april ..........up early...bed late....and fill the day up.....enjoy.
Stockholm/Copenhagen/Barcelona...are certainly nice enough places....but there are better and cheaper places to visit.
next year....bout may 12th....have a long weekend in frankfurt....the "skyscaper festival".......the streets and city are full ...food/beer/street entertainment...(motor bike display team...local bands playing etc)....and free outdoor concerts in the evening....free helicopter ride if you get your name on the list....and the same applies to a free spin zooming down a wire from a huge office block.....a great weekend...a good hotel is Hotel Europa....200 metres from the main Rail station and town centre.
Another good weekend...but you have to book fight and hotel well in advance...is the Beamish folk festival in Cork-Ireland in late August...or better still the jazz festival in late october.....people from all over the world go there...
Loads of places to see....Portugal/Greece are ok too. |

Barcelona or Copenhagen. Both are beautiful cities. |

In my opinion Barcelona would be the clear winner. If you go there try a paella in Barceloneta. Unsurpassed! And the scenery while you're eating it is pretty good as well. |

Out of your options I've only been to Barcelona which by the way is a lovely city. We definitely want to go back there again. |

Barcelona is the buzziest and still quite pleasant climate wise - even over the winter
Budapest is the cheapest and friendliest with a lot of "unspoilt" places to visit |
