a bit of both, and they always seem to travel in packs which makes them even louder, oh and you forgot "Awesome!" and applauding at every given opportunity

My Funny, In Iraq 2005 travelling on Route Irish, from the airport to the green zone in an armoured civilian convoy, we had an union jack showing to the front of the car and came up behind an American military convoy, the rear gunner opened fire on us with a .50 calibre machine gun (A BIG machine gun!) we pulled right back and followed them into their camp, I asked the convoy commander why they opened fire, he then asked the gunner why he fired, his reply was "I didn't recognise the flag" after reminding him quietly that the UK is the second biggest contingent in the coalition we asked him what he thought it was, he admitted he thought it was "a Reebok Badge" !!

Extremely loud nasal voice pre-fixing everything with "I'm an American....."

Other phrases to listen out for include:
"Is this the way to Scotchland?".
"Where can I book tea with the queen for under $40?".
"Do you know Prince William?"

Also mistaking your local row of shops as your main town and saying "In the states we have hundreds of stores in something called a mall".

The American is the person in the restaurant who purposefully gets way overcharged for their meal by the locals for no other reason than they're an American and don't know any better, but still manages to leave a tip at the end.
Oh, and some wear a Canadian flag on themselves as to avoid this type of situation, but sometimes it doesn't always work.

I'm American, so I'm not exactly sure. Probably if they have an accent or don't know the language. But I can recognise someone from the UK by their teeth.
