Madeira is warm all winter.Only being 100miles north of Tenerife, but the scenery is much better hence its name as the floating garden.Loads of mountains and valleys to explore but don`t expect golden sands, there just is non as the beaches are just great big pebbles. |

Italy, Spain, Southern France or Greece would be the best choices for you in my opinion. I guess you don't want too much rain and snow and other countries have 4 seasons with cooler winters. |

check out Alpine region in France, Switzerland, Italy and Austria.
There is a town called Annecy in France I went, its near Apls and quite pretty, but then they dont speak English there.
Oslo has beautiful sceneries and they do speak english everywhere in Oslo. but the whether is not warm enough.
What about Gibralter, its part of UK so you can move there easily maybe ? |

Depends what you define as "good" weather. Doesn't the mist and clouds and rain over the mountains look pretty? I tend to think it does.
Another similarly pretty, mountainous area is the north east of France, in the vicinity of Metz. It has fantastic snow all through the winter, very pretty. High ground generally attracts cold weather.
Some may suggest Spain. But having travelled the whole of Spain extensively, I know that most of Spain is very high up and therefore very cold in Winter. Expect as much frost there as you get in Scotland.
And like any Scotsman, as soon as you leave, you will be singing songs about going home.
Most of low lying Europe gets winters comparable to the UK. If you go east, they get worse. As you go more inland, they get worse. Scotland isn't so bad. You have the Gulf Stream warming it up. France does not. |

PORTUGAL! the european country that has more annual sunny hours.
There are castles, palaces, churches and ruins.

Gran Canaria. Take an organized trip. Don't drive on the mountainous roads. And enjoy. Visit the 3 mile stretch of golden sands and massive dunes at Maspalomas. You may completely disrobe if you wish. You can also take a Camel ride over the dunes. (but not naked please) |

BULGARIA!!!!!!!!
Bulgaria has beaches, mountains, and decent cities. You can buy acres of land in Bulgaria for the cost of coal in Newcastle. The Ruse area has the only bridge over the Danube into Romania, and land there is unbelievably cheap, so is food and everything else.
Go for it!! |

Cantabria (northern Spain) for scenery very similar to Scotland, although the weather isn't warm all year round. Southern Portugal as someone suggested sounds good. Madeira too, although I wouldn't want to live on an island that small.
I live in Catalunya; we have beautiful summers and mild winters, plenty of beaches and coastline as well as ski-ing in winter and loads of fantastic national parks. Oh yeah, and we have Barcelona too. You might want to consider it! |

Head up to the Alps - Try Switzerland, Saastal valley (saas fee, saas grund etc) a gorgeous collection of villages, with beautiful mountain scenery. In the summer beautiful and warm weather, and in the winter, lots of snow, but generally speaking you still get clear days. And can go snowboarding/skiing as a plus! |
