England has one currency, pound sterling. Britain has 3 3 types of pound notes, some are hard to exchange in shops, if you go from England Ireland and Scotland, this is mainly because of the fakes/forgery that is rife here, its hard to detect, and people are wary to accept them. though they all carry the queens head and are all classed as British sterling, only southern Ireland, which is independent from UK, is in the euro.. god forbid, that Britain opts for the euro,, rule Britannia, pound rules OK,,, all you euro politicians, British people say NO to EURO, |

It is not easy to revamp the currency of an entire country that fast think about the tremendous load on banks to issue the currency. Thus for the comfort level of the people and the authorities concerned both were given equal status. However the Pound may not have a good future when Euro starts to sink in. |

Funnily enough i have heard, that they are not always accepted in England ( shops and even restuarants ..etc :)difficult to believe, i know.
The UK have not joined the Euro Zone Currency yet, maybe never ? ok.

The currency in the UK is the pound it is generally very interchangeable with the euro through banks etc.. As is the US dollar. However our currency is the pound, prices are in pounds and you pay in pounds.
It it has a picture of the queen on it then its a farily safe bet you can spend it here. |
