For the person asking the question!! Greece does not want to admit that there are MACEDONIANS that speak the MACEDONIAN language in Northern Greece because there whole propaganda will fall apart!!! But the whole world has already realized that Greece has nothing but lied about MACEDONIA!!! MACEDONIANS that are from Aegean part of MACEDONIA are not afraid to say they are MACEDONIAN and are allowed to speak their MACEDONIAN mother tongue without getting beaten and tortured to speak only the Greek language!!! And to all MACEDONIANS from this part stand up and be PROUD to be MACEDONIAN!!!! Speak your MACEDONIAN language with pride!!! MACEDONIA FOR THE MACEDONIANS!!!!
And for allot of people that answered above me!! Please take a look at the World Factbook!!! And tell me if this is wrong or right!!! Because I HIGHLY doubt that there is 93% of Greeks in Greece and that 99% of the population speaks only Greek!!! Check it out!!! |

I find your question fine. No matter what the others here are saying.
I see that you are from the country that uses the name of Macedonia. Do you consider yourself Greek ? I will be happy to hear a yes.
Most Greeks today are living in Greece and Cyprus.
Macedonia is a region within Greece. The Macedonians are Greeks, just like Spartans, Atheneans, Cretans, Cypriots ect.
The country in the north of Greece is called Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The people that live in that country are slavic (bulgarians) and albanians and they have nothing to do with the Ancient Macedonians that were Greeks. They are using the name illegally and this is a reason of hostility among the people of the two counties.
If you are interested to learn more search for Macedonia in Wikipedia. The history books of your country are based on a propaganda that wanted to separate the western Bulgarians from their motherland and unite them with Serbia. |

To your covert provocation, the answer is, that Greece has a number of people of other religions, Catholics, Jews, Muslims, that they were born Greeks and treated as Greeks just as the rest Greek Orthodox. To that number, as explained above a great number of political and economical refugees legal or illegal can be added.
As regards to Macedonians, they are only Greek. And there is a plethora of evidence about it in the Museums of the world. The ones you mean, are the citizens of Former YugoSLAV Republic of Macedonia- FYROM- and that tells it all. SLAV-Macedonians.
According to a study the ground that Skopje is situated, was the former Vardarska region before Tito renamed it as Macedonia for reasons of propaganda. The people were called Dardans and were not glossically connected to Greeks. In fact they were enemies. They still remain, but not enough to beat them every day in order to learn and speak Greek as suggested by a brainless troll below.
Whether you like it or not , even if political circumstances by the cowboy of USA appoints you the name you will never be Macedonian in spirit and heart .
Now, all that of Macedonian pride and the rest of the ********
is nice propaganda for home consumption. |

Your question is not very clear! But Greece doesn’t say “that only Greeks leave in Greece”.
Greece is an ethnic state and not a multiethnic state. Therefore the vast majority of the population of Greece is ethnic Greeks.
Of course there are thousand of foreigners that live in Greece and thousands of both illegal and legal immigrants!
According the Hellenic government statistics, immigrants that have valid Residence Permits, as of January 15, 2004, Held by Foreign Nationals,
(Excludes European Union nationals and ethnic Greeks) give the following number: 228,401 legal immigrants. The number of illegal immigrants is estimated 300.00-500,000. As happens in every country in the word illegal immigrants do not count in any official census (mainly because they do not answer any questions). As you can see there are a lot of foreigners that live and prosper in Greece! So the official population is 10,964,020 and the estimation of the population is 11,244,118.
Sp roughly the foreigners (both legal and illegal) in Greece are estimated from 500,000 -800,000 (Of course the census doesn’t include the 7,000,000 Greeks that live outside of Greece and not the European Union Natinals!)
The only minority that exists in Greece is a Muslim minority which is not considered ethnic but religious. The Muslims are about 120,000 (and they are mainly of Bulgarian, Turkish and Roma origin). Other recognized ethnic minorities are approximately 35,000 Armenians, and 5,500 Jews. (There used to be a prosperous Jew minority but unfortunately they were killed by the Nazi occupation!)
Greece is a largely ethnically homogenous country. This is largely due to the population exchanges between Greece and neighbouring Turkey (Treaty of Lausanne) and Bulgaria (Treaty of Neuilly), which removed most Muslims (with the exception of the Muslims of Thrace) and non-Greek identifying Christian Slavs from Greek territory, and the resettlement of ethnic Greeks from those countries, later to be followed by refugees The population exchanges with Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Turkey that took place in the early 20th century, added in total some 2 million Greeks from Asia Minor, Constantinople, Bulgaria, Albania and Yugoslavia to the demography of the modern Greek state.
Greece of course recognizes the other nations that are around Greece! I don’t know how you got such information! There is Albania, Bulgaria, Turkey, and (Slav/Albanian)Macedonia. If you refer to Macedonians ,do not confuse the authentic Macedonians of Greece (who are Greeks) with the Slav-Macedonians or the Albanian-Macedonians.
The authentic Macedonians of Greece are the most proud Greeks and they are a vibrant an important part of Greece since the antiquity!
If the asker is referring to Slav-Macedonians or Slav-Macedonians of Bulgarian descent in Greece then the situation is different than she thinks.
In authentic Macedonian of Greece there are only a few hundreds that claim to be of Slav-Macedonian (or Bulgarian) decent.
They formed a political Party (with 75 members). And they formed a coalition with an extreme Greek left party (OAKKE Group) and few gay/lesbian activist groups and they participated in the election with the name “Rainbow party”.
The coalition received 2,955 votes in the region of Macedonia (in a total of 2,450,000) in the latest elections (2004).
A pro-Bulgarian political party, known as Bulgarian Human Rights in Macedonia (Български Човешки Права в Македония) was established in June 2000, promoting the concept and rights of what they describe as the "Bulgarian minority in Greece". This party has not yet participated in elections simply because it can not raise any members! |

You're not making much sense with your Q. You said it yourself, "for ex Macedonians", because 'ex' means 'former' as in 'Former Yugoslav Republic'. I never heard Greeks say only Greeks live in Greece. I'd be interested to know where you heard it. |
|

xoooooooo

well because if you live in greece then that kinda makes you greek |

Because If Greece says that there are Macedonians in Greece, she will have to admit Macedonia like a country too! |

Greece is nothing but a conglomeration of many peoples and lands - the Great powers handed them vast territories that belong to Albania, Macedonia and Turkey. When greece was independent, the very term "greek" did not even exist - those inhabitants that were brainwashed into thinking their greeks were actually Albanians, Turks, Vlachs, Romany, and Arabs. As Greek expanded this they conqured Macedonian lands and now have over 1 million Macedonians in Aegean Macedonia |
