Why Turkish women, girls can't wear head scaf called the hijab? Aint Turkey muslim country?

First of all, because I choose not to. Second it's forbidden to wear scarf in schools and state buildings.

Majority of people are muslim in Turkey but Turkey is not a muslim country. Countries don't have religions (or shouldn't anyway), but people. Moreover, Turkey is a modern country and our interpretation of Islam may quite be different from yours. You do not have the right to criticize this.

Two things: the restriction only applies to "state" environments and many Turkish Muslim woman do not wear them anyway as they do not feel it is a religious requirement. Turkish people are primarily Muslim, but there is a strict church/state separation, which helps to explain why Turkey is considered a moderate Muslim nation. Women are not allowed to wear the head scarves in state schools, universities, even in the government offices and positions (the state environments mentioned). This does not apply in private settings of course. This was the way the republic was created by Ataturk as a way of denying religious fundamentalism and keeping Turkey a westward thinking nation.

Your teacher is a modern teacher who wants you to be modern person. Turkey is not a relegion country.

actually they can wear it if they want. There is no rule says that they caan or can't. I am a turkish girl and i don't wear anything to my head, but i know some girls in my age wears hijab

because in turkey most ppl that wear scarfs use this as political symbol and it leads to dangerous matters. therefore to prevent this to happen they are not allowed to wear scarf or any other religious symbol in formal places, such as, schools, university's, hospitals, Parliament.

Turkey is a muslim country but we are a democracy so we do not have rules that are based on religion. women can choose if they wish to wear the headscarf or not. however now that we are trying to join the european union, people are trying to be more european, getting rid of all traditional religion rules. the teacher was forced to take it off because it is a school so we are trying to educate children in that, headscarf is not an important aspect of our religion...

Turkey is a relatively moderate Muslim country. I think they are undergoing a process of trying to separate the state from religion. I guess the teacher was told to take off the scarf because they don't want religion in schools or something.

They can wear hijab, but Turkey is a pretty secular muslim country, meaning religious laws are not enforced.

because Turkish ppl r muslim but Turkey has no any religion. All religious symbols r illegal in Turkey. it is not secularism it is different than secularism its name is LaÃ¯citÃ© in france, LÃ¢ik in Turkish

i think only two countries r lÃ¢ik or LaÃ¯citÃ© in the world. France (mostly Christian people) and Turkey (mostly Muslim people)
