Why are Dutch people so tall?

They are now the tallest people in the world. A lot of it has to do with vitamins at crucial moments of growth, a very high standard of living and diet, and good health care.

They typicially eat very well. Little meat but lots of vegetables. My mom is Dutch and she's average height. My dad's Belgian and he's huge. By the way, Bunt, there are beautiful girls all over the world, and Dutch girls are just as lovely as Slavs. The Dutch have softer features :)

Partly because of the food, the genes, and because of the health care. Children are protected for a lot of deceases. That means that because the children get vaccination against a lot of deceases they don't get sick. And so the body don't loose energy on deceases.

i have a dutch friend and he isnt that tall, kind of short, more like it. so i dont believe all dutch people are tall.

I agree with the above, proper diet etc. However, it needs also to be pointed out that the social security is also a factor. Since everybody no matter what or how can apply for social security, overall levels of nutrition are automatically better than in other countries where kids are sometimes undernourished.

In average they are the tallest people in the world, however many are just average european size. I guess it depends on the genes mainly, but sure also the good life conditions, good diet, etc.

I'm half dutch and I'm 5'4"...my grandfather, who is full blood Dutch, was 6'1", my uncles, who are full blood Dutch are 6'1" and 6'3"...I guess they are kinda tall huh?
and I ended up with the short end of the stick I guess!!

I guess the same reason other tall people are tall, a combination of genes and health.
The tallest person I've ever met (he must be 6'8"/200cm) is Dutch. I had to dance with him at a wedding (they paired us off by lot) and it is NOT easy to dance with someone who's well over a foot taller than you! His wife is at least 5'10 (175cm) and I guess happy to be able to wear high heels. She's not Dutch though.

After spending a good deal of time in the Netherlands, I can tell you that the Dutch come in all sizes.

So they can see over the dikes and check the water level and also so they can work on the windmills without a ladder, I think.....

because of the rain.... Do trees grow when it rains??? Might be all the chemicals that are in meat. If the cows can grow really fast so will the Dutch. Really do not have a clue why we are so tall... Why are all the other people so small??

Northern Europeans are genetically taller than the Meditarranians.
The shortest tend to be the Albanians(never met a tall one yet!), then Greeks and Italians and Spanish.
We, Slavs are very tall, too. Rissian, Poles, Bulgarians, Serbs, Czech...not just taller but much better looking than the Dutch.
