Why are the all French so arrogant?

Is there a French word for humility? they need one, i dont get it they arent great at anything, just mediocra at very many things. chocolate, and beer form Belgium. Cheese form the Netherlands, food, and bread from the Spanish. Crafts from the swiss. Beach from croatia, euro-charm form Italy. All these lay a claim to being superior than their french counterpart.

I only once experienced one arrogant French person. I cannot agree with your assessment that the French as a nation are arrogant. My experience with them is that they like to keep a little distance. As long as you respect this distance and don't hurt their national pride they are as friendly and charming as they come.
If your attitude in France was anything like your post here I do not wonder that you were treated badly. I don't like visitors who always think and say that things are better in other countries.

I can't follow your argument regarding the food. French food has nothing to do with Spanish food. If you think otherwise you were at the wrong restaurants. And French cheese is exquisite. Brie and Camembert are just the internationally best known French cheeses. But there are other cheeses that are excellent as well. And French wine, cider, and brandy - Cognac and Armagnac - are "merveilleux" or marvelous too.

you better learn a little bit about culture and where things are from first, before saying French people are arrogant

1) there are 365 kind of cheeses in France...TRUE
2) chocolate are also made in Switzerland and better known than Belgian ones
3)Beer: let's the German taking care of
4)Bread: have you had baguette? don't think Spain is famous for their bread.
Beaches: Go to the French Riviera, and then you can talk about Croatia.
5) How come you did not mentioned WINE???
6) And about fashion and perfumes, which are known world wide.

etc..etc...

Stop bitching and go there. You will be very surprise.

french people arrogant?? yeah but not all of em... i can tell u that american are much more arrogant.

thearizonapenguin
Wow! Where did you get that idea from. Last time I was in France one of the gentlemen I met said "Why do American's dislike the French when in truth it is they who dislike us?" I don't speak French and with one exception II was never treated rudely or with distain. I think the attitude there is no different than NY city. Some people have the time to help and chit chat others do not.

I am not French, but I live in France, and I met lot of very nice people,I like living here and I adore wine from here and I adore "J'adore",and Canes, and Nica, and Paris......

Not all the French are arrogant.

You can write this sentence a hundred times with a different nationality, you'll see it works.

In each country, there are good guys and bad ones. Even you should know that.

The Dutch language don't have a word for consideration as it is understood when i say BE CONSIDERATE. Not sure about the French language though.
I ran away to France once when I was a kid ... I remember the people I encountered fondly. Travelled from Menen on the border to Marseille. I spent three weeks there before being repatriated.
For all the good beer they have, Belgium is a very catholic country. There is a saying that goes 'Living like God in France'. It implies it is heaven on earth. The most chilled out place to be.
I'm Belgian myself. I find it rather arrogant to see all you think of when thinking of Belgium is beer. British are the ones without culture. Everything has been imported. Ever since 1066 :-)
Regarding Belgium ...You forgot 'Frieten met stoofvleessaus' Google it if you dare :-)

To add: Belgium's speciality is beer fermented in the bottle btw. You can actually visit the breweries (some are monastries).

when I went to Paris they didn't seem so arrogant to me, but that was my experience.

You can't be serious! I hope you're actually French and just want to see what praise people will pour out for your country. Nothing you said is true. I don't need to elaborate, I'll go along the lines of the two posters before me.

Just a friend.
Their arrogance is just a facade, they know that their time was over decades ago. A second rank national power, with a dead language, they can only hold on to their past second rank glory.

Still it is a nice place to visit.
