There are still some Greek origined Turks ( RUM) living mainly in İzmir and İstanbul.
Reason why they are little in numbers is that the young ones mostly moved to Greece or abroad since they have relatives and better job opportunities.
Now that would be the answer if I didn't sense a provocation in your question but since I feel that way the following would be my answer to you :
Ehemm.. because İstanbul belongs to Turks for about last 550 years...... |

mmm...difficult question!
Staring the future I would say that..maybe after Turkey's integration in EU, Greeks who "decided to move" in Greece years ago...to go back! |

Population Exchange was a policy, singed and followed by both sides, Turkey and Greece, between Ataturk and Venizelos.
By this agreement, every Greek living in Turkey should return to their motherland, and the same was for Turks living in Greece
The result for this practice, was many fugitives - refugees, for both sides, pain, sorrow, nostalgia for the forgotten lands..
A final parameter was including the Greeks living in Istanbul.
The result is to be left very few behind, appr. 2.000 people |

Is this meant to be a serious question? You must be a student that forgot to read the history books. The Greeks have been tormented and tyrannized and killed.......that is why the number of Greeks in Constantinople is dwindling....... |

Is this a new way of attacking and harrassing Turks on Yahoo? You come here asking provocative questions and inviting your likes to support you. Let me give you a few facts (not that you will bother to read but still..)
1- What you call Greeks we call Rum (Roman) who are descendants of Byzantine (Eastern Roman Empire). They speak the Greek language and follow the same Church (Greek Orthodox).
2- Most of them left Turkey, fearing revenge after what some of their people did to the Turks during the Greek invasion of Anatolia in 1920.
3- Some were scared off by an unfortunate event (6-7September 1956).
4- Some left Turkey, fearing ill treatment after what Greek Cypriots did to Turkish Cypriots in Cyprus in 1963-64 and 1974.
Nobody asked them to leave. I have heard that they were not so welcomed in Greece either.
They were never massacred in Turkey, never in Izmir i n1922. As I said above, they left in fear because some Greek (Rum) gangs committed horrible crimes against innocent Turks.
Now stop asking such questions here in Turkey Travel page. |

Since it's been Turkish for nearly 600 years, from your question I come to the conclusion that you don't posses what people call basic logic. |

They are about 1500 now...After some events of 1955, they were forced to leave the city.. |

They are called Rums (descendants of the Eastern Roman Empire, later changed hands and became the Ottoman empire) and they exist.
By rights, your next question should be about Turks and Jews in Greece. |
