Hülya

Why aren't there any Turks in Armenian today? ?

Turks are accused by Armenians, but at least in Turkey we have an Armenian community, and they have their churches, their schools, their shops,etc...
But where are the Turks of Armenia now?

Armenians live in almost every country of the world, and they have important communities in US,France,Argentina,Lebanon,etc...They are ok for living abroad, and they appreciate this cosmopolitan life...
But if you look at Armenia, you can notice that they have no foreign communities allowed...100% of the Armenian population is Armenian...
Very unfair situation, isn't it?...

The reason why Turks are not living in Armenia today???? Genocide denial is a hate crime.

The nationalist Turks deniests in Turkey are teaching younger generations to view Armenians as the enemy to be punished on sight. This is the mentality that led to the murders of Hrant Dink, priest Santoro and the three people at the publishing house in Malatya.

"the 90th anniversary of the end of the Armenian occupation was celebrated in the town of Gürpınar, in the eastern province of Van, with a “theatrical” re-enactment of a massacre blamed on Armenians.
http://www.turkishdailynews.com.tr/article.php?enewsid=98038
Around a dozen people, dressed as Armenian militia members, re-enacted the massacre of civilians and were then chased away by Turkish soldiers, played by primary school students.

While the shocked children watched the proceedings, Gürpınar’s mayor, Fuat Yaşar Atan, made a speech, saying the town had celebrated the end of the Armenian occupation with the same vigor for the past 90 years."
Having an Armenian community in Turkey is not the same as treating them fairly.

".... you can notice that they have no foreign communities allowed ..."

Completely nonesense...!

It seems you lack some basic information on Armenia:
Republic of Armenia is home for not only Armenians, but also other nations like Greeks, Assyrians, Jews, Yezid's and Kurds.
These ethnic groups have a long history in Armenia and have lived together with Armenians on the same land.
All of them are free to learn their language in their schools, and Armenian government encourages the NGOs to do so.

Why do you think if there is Armenian community in Turkey, there should be a Turkish community in Armenia too ?
No such foreign community exists without historic background, and Armenian Community of Istanbul is one of the oldest ones.

Why do you think Armenians are intolerant towards Turks? Remember, Armenia cancelled visa regime with Turkey during September 6 football match, but Turkey - despite the calls from Turkish football fans and NGOs - even didn't open the Armenian-Turkish border at least as a symbolic act for one day or two.

Your question was too naive...

Anoosh
Well Hulia, it is not unfair, it’s the truth.
History is your answer, when I read the answers here, I see they mentioning about Armenia's economic situation that has nothing to do with why there are no Turks in Armenia.
Vahe's answer is good, but not complete, there are no Turks in Armenia, because last time they were close was the war and when in the battle of Sardarabad Armenians won a war against Turkey (because Turkey wanted all of Armenia, not only part of it, as it is now to be include in Turkey), as I said Turkey lost and Armenian kept this small land for themselves, whatever followed is not the question here. And in this small land left for them, there were never Turks and just normal families living peacefully with Armenians , but ottoman government and ruling and making the life of Armenians miserable, so when they could not squeeze more …., they just left and came back for only to attack again.

On the other hand “there are” Armenians in Turkey, because they were living in this region for thousands of years, it was their land, says history and all the ruins and churches etc.
Now can you tell me why there is no Armenian in Eastern turkey now, and whatever left of them are the converted to Islam Armenians? Lost souls…
Whenever Armenians let Turks come and live with them, they just wanted the lands for themselves, and example is the Arcah (Karabagh).
They may not bee Turkish from Turkey, but Azeri and again Turk origins.

But today is deferent and as Vahe said, they had the opportunity last few months, and they did not use it.

To: Keyser,
Why are you trying to be rude here, Armenia may have economical problems, and we all know what is causing part of it.
And if Turkey is that good, why are people seeking work in Germany and other country, try to use your words polite, will you?
Every country has problems, even rich almighty USA

Apparently you haven't heard. In
1993 your government closed its
borders with Armenia, and by doing
so it disallowed you the right to
move there. I agree with you,
it isn't fair, and not only to the
Turkish people but Armenia has suffered
tremendous hardship, and continues to
struggle to survive. Are you still wanting
to live in Armenia in the economical condition it
is in today? How many other Turks are there
that have expressed a desire to move there?
I am sure if Turks were to ban together
and demand their government to lift the
blockade with Armenia, things could be
a little different all the way around.

KYSER/ you finally got one
right...It's a sure bet that you would
catch a beating everyday without
even having to expose your ethnicity. I definitely
always had you pegged as being the
only legitimate excuse a bully has
for hitting.

ADD: Heklo!!!
The border is closed, it
doesn't take a moron to
figure this question was one of those
provoking kind,I must say, I am surprised
a nice girl like you was easily
baited.
BTW- your blog?

umm Armenia's population is only 92 percent armenian so i don't know what your talking about...

Trotsky vs Kerensky-дахэ дэи
Hello Hülya, please read this article, it's should not take a long time. Hopefully, this will answer your query, it appears the art of plundering has taken a whole new dimension in Armenia. http://armenians-1915.blogspot.com/2006/06/718-azerbaijani-turks-of-armenia.html

I see many Armenian users avoid answering your question. They speak of Greeks, Jews, battles, football matches and some even insolently pretend as if Turks, who are now in Anatolia for more than a thousand years, do not belong to Anatolia while Armenians, who only had an empire thousands of years ago and then did not, achieve any kind of political unity, are the rightful decendants of these lands! Do Turks live on a different planet, or am I just reading the deliriums of zealot minds hidden behind words?

Armenians accuse TURKEY of intolerance? Our president (unfortunately) went to a country that does not even recognize the official borders of Turkey, and furthermore has irridentist, aggressive aims on it. First, you send a diplomatic committee to a country, then a an official as high ranked as a *PRESIDENT* makes his visit, Gül went there disregarding the diplomatic procedure. Let's be fair. Look at the constitution of Armenia, it says Mount Agri is the symbol Armenia. How can you expect 'tolerance' and peace? So what has Armenia done in return to deserve friendly Turkish gestures ? AS IF, Turkey needs Armenia and not vice-versa. You need two sides to reach an agreement.

I guess same reason no germans in iseral. It is not
unfair it is consideration. You know tukish people will be afraid like german people. It is a psychological proved fact all people fear revenge even if not practical. This more true why turk side close the borders to the armenians in first place.Maybe that is what not fair not what you say.

They are all in nortern cyprus where they invaded.

Hope this helps!

ErAs
Please dont! Any time you ask anything about Armenians, it will cause another propaganda which is already operated by all Armenians about the issue that as if our ancestors were ferocious murderers and Armenians' were innocent.

I mean as if Armenian gangs hasnt killed any Turkish people, as if Armenians hasnt joined Russian army and as if it was not a war but only a guilt committed by our cruel ancestors!

And as if fascism doesnt exist in Armenia where they tread on Turkish flags on their so-called Armenian genocide day!

So it will mean nonsense, when you ask about their crimes; since any Turkish person shows up in an Armenian street saying that he was Turkish probably causes a lynching.

Armenia is not 100% Armenian ethnically. There are Greeks, Georgians, Yezidis, Jews, Kurds, Assyrians, Russians, Ukrainians, etc. Anyone is welcome in Armenia, even a Turk will be welcome if he behaves. There are even now some Azeris still living in Armenia.

Also, the reason so many Armenians are living in all those other countries is because of the Armenian Genocide. When the Turks tried to kill all the Armenians in their borders, the Armenians were forced to flee and fled to places like Lebanon, France, Greece, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Russia. Eventually they moved to other nations also like Australia, USA, Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Canada, Russia, Georgia, Armenia, etc.

You seem so jealous of the Armenian diaspora but your nation is the one that caused our diaspora. Why are there so few Turks anywhere except for Turkey and Germany? Because you were never forced into diaspora.

I live in the USA and Armenians have a good history here, but Turks almost non-existent here. Why? We were forced. Also, we fit in to Christian and even Muslim Arab countries, but you Turks are often unwelcome because you have offended so many, like in Arab countries like Syria and Lebanon still they don't like Turks because Turks killed them also in the past. In Lebanon, the muslim Lebanese are very happy with Armenian neighbors and we get along with them famously. They are real friends. So it has nothing to do even with religion, because even muslims prefer Armenians over Turks for neighbors.

And as was pointed out to you it is YOUR country that has closed its border to Armenia, as part of Turkey's ongoing hatred and persecution of Armenia. Maybe if you really cared you would ask why your own government continues to be so hateful to Armenians and why do they close off the border and block water and supplies from going into Armenia??? Why, if they have no problem with them? I'll tell you why - because they hate Armenia and will always do whatever they can to hurt Armenia.

Yes, very unfair situation, I agree - but unfair not because of Armenia or the Armenians, but because of Turkey and the Turks. Now you know why.

Totally Blunt
Because Ottomans reacted to war conditions by making Armenians immigrate, but Armenia applied ethnic cleansing (exiles are included in ethnic cleansing) to create a "pure" Armenia, that's why.

If it weren't for the biased reports of the Christian missionaries acting in Eastern Anatolia during the wars, the world would know what the Muslims population lived through.

The Armenians living in Istanbul have been relocated there by Mehmet II the Conquerer. Before him there was no Armenian community in Istanbul. He even set the Armenian patriarchate in the capital. He also relocated more Greeks in Istanbul by setting up Arnavutköy (Village of Albanians, those were the Greek speaking people who were made to move from Albania to Istanbul)
About Turkic speaking people in Armenia, they somehow mysteriously disappeared. Yerevan is said to have more Muslim population in the city than Christians.

well what would be the motivation of a turk to live in armenia? armenians are poor, the economy is bad and the culture is completly based on christianity.the country is landlocked.

why would a turk living with such cultural richness, great food, scenery, brilliant beaches, and multi cultural cities like istanbul wanna move to armenia?

it must be hell for a turk going to school in armenia.the bullying that must go on,the ridicule, everything.

not a good idea for a turk to go to armenia.
