Why did the Turkish boys ask me was I Russian?

I am English. I have blonde hair and blue eyes (I look a little like a younger version of Emma Bunton). When I went to Gumbet in the Summer the boys and men kept asking whether I was Russian. Does anyone know why?
Additional Details
Sorry if I offended anyone. I wasn't trying to be negative about Turkish guys, I love Turkish people (more than I do my own people). I was just confused that's all? Usually people ask me whether I am Swedish you see. Also I am not trying to 'adverrtise' myself as someone replied with (that did offend)!!!

Because there are a lot of Russian women in Turkey either working or either on holiday. So naturally people tend to think every foreigner with a Russian look is Russian.

Lol but if I was a boy, I wouldn't care if you were Russian or English or an Eskimo as long as you looked like Emma Bunton =p

Qu'est ce que tu pense?
Because in Turkey, Russian tourists are very common. If you have blonde hair blue eyes, of course the first thing that will pop into their minds is that you're Russian. That's the stereotype we have.
Edit-yuliyasa2003 doesn't have any idea what she's talking about. I think she's been watching too much of the The Hills and OC to get that kind of a thought.

'I have blonde hair and blue eyes (I look a little like a younger version of Emma Bunton)'

you are giving the answer yourself, this question more like an advertisement to meeeeeee

Well, Russian girls have been very popular in Turkey during the last decade or so, some doing sex for money too (no offense). By the way, who is Emma Bunton? (am I too old to know her) lol.

I live in France (i am Turkish) and people often ask me if i am Italian. I am not offended i just say no. just to open up a conversation i guess. In Turkey there are alot of East European girls.

FATIH:
I agree with you totally. I was in Nice and Cannes in June with 2 of my girl friends. The French guys didn't stop asking us if we are alone or not, they followed us etc etc. So stop telling weird things about Turkish guys people.

cause turkish men are dying to have a russian wife... or just to "use" them during their vacation. They just hunt for single women. Some girls go after them, and some i guess just smart enought not to follow them and believe them, cause they'll do anything for you before marriage - then change completely.

that's what i've heard, and also seen myself..

good luck

P.S. i know what i was talking about, and i don't watch those The Hills and OC, i live in Russia and we don't have those series here.

Sorry if i was too rude, but that was my point of view according on what i've heard and seen myself. Of course there is always good guys everywhere, there are always exceptions, but.... always but..

P.S.S. Relax guys... it's like everybody around think that all russians do is drink vodka, and only russian mafia around - IT"S ALSO STEREOTYPE, but it doesn't mean it's true, it's your choice to think that, but i know it's not like that, so why would i be so agressed on those who think that? I'll just try to prove them nicely that they're wrong - not everybody drink (i don't drink at all for example).
And as i said there is always exceptions in each nation, there is always good and bad. How many people - how many opinions

These years, mostly russian people prefer Turkey to have their summer holidays.According to the news only in 6 months,2.5 million russian tourists visited Turkey this year. They also look like British people too, blonde hair, blue eyes..etc. So don't take it personal.

I agree with RedCandy, it's just a stereotype.

Turkish boys are not particularly obsessed about Russian girls.
There are blonde and blue-eyed Turkish girls too. But it's true that Russian girls have less religious or cultural pressure than Muslim girls, that's why a few Turkish guys may sometimes try to date Russian girls. Which is not something wrong, if there is some respect . The lack of respect only occurs when the guy is uneducated, and this has nothing to do with the citizenship ( In Europe and USA too there are some local guys who don't respect tourist girls and who are "hunting" ).
Definitely, the user called "Yuliasa" is mistaken. Russian people should at first take a look at themselves before criticizinng us Turks...
I am Turk, and I am not interested in Russian girls.
I prefer girls from the South, brown skins and black hair...
