Why do Portuguese people hate the English!!!?

hi bongo thanks for answering my question iam english living in ireland a long time to no probs i think yhe hate part goes back to the british empire days like you said nothing to do with us i find portaguese people nice but you have to talk to them first any way i will buy you a drink in paddys bar if your ever around cheers peter

Well i am a Greek girl.In my gymnasium i use to be the best friend with one girl Veronica (god i miss her now i am in lyceum) she is from English father and Greek mother she said to me that the English people are rude in the majority macho and don't respect other cultures and very ignorant.I dunno want to generalize but the 3 years she studied in England was a mess.The same thing i hear from my cousin too who he's from English mother he don't like England and said the people are racist.Sorry but the Portuguese people are very friendly and hospitalise. P.S.:I dunno really think is because of the English empire because the English have the fame of barbarians (well almost everyone has this fame in Greece but that's an other story) mostly because of their ignorance in everything matters the Greek culture.So probably is because of your brain washed and liar T.V. programs who corrupt you.I'v watched the T.V. show "Brainiac" from one program i have and i got shocked with the low historically information that gives and the plenty mistakes that had.Even me who i am 15 i knew more things than those people there who were around 40 and 30.Just imagine that they didn't knew that Greece was the first country who invited music and they said China?!!?!Well off course i respect the huge Chinese culturebut there exist and Greek as well.This thing about English empire you said we can clearly say that the English hate the Greeks as well because they were part of all of our empires and we treated to them like blacks in school we learned that the Portuegese and Egyptians were theblack of our days in Greek empires.

its all to do with money and criminals living there. If you found all teh nice properties in your home country were being bought by portugese I am sure you could become resentful. Just a thoght

Dont worry its not just portugal that hate them, the rest of the world apart from usa. I am not entirely sure why but I think it is because of their pig headed nationalistic views and football hooligans. Generally I think the english are fine but I have a lot of welsh friends and they hate the english!?

I suppose they are pissed off with the English for buying up the property locally and making it impossible for locals to live there. I know there is negative feeling in parts of Ireland for the very same reason, particularly around West Cork, towards English, Dubliners, and other rich foreigners for making impossible for locals on low incomes to live there.

I think the Portuguese are lovely, one of the nicest holidays I've ever had was a week in Lisbon.

from my own experience i find the spanish, portuegese, and italians to be very rude. i dont know why they just seem a bit up their own **** and look down on british tourists. but im really surprised at an estate agent being so blatantly anti english. oh well

That must have been a one off.I know a portuguese bloke,and they like the Brits.It's usually other races that they don't like.People are people,and the fella that your talking about was probably one of life's a r s e h o l e s anyway.

Portuguese donÂ´t have english , they hate americans but who created america was england so they are not so accepted in here..
