Why do most british people go on holidays to europe?

Why they hell they should have holidays in Uk when they live there all year long? They can't wait to escape as Uk sucks as hell obviously

Because mainland Europe is warmer, particularly in the south. And the beaches are nicer.

it's plain and simple it's cheap!! there are places in Spain the Canaries, ibiza that are cheap and sunny because the distance to travel there is 4hrs maybe a little longer.
i myself don't fancy those sun holidays grrrrrr.i prefer to go off the beaten track a little and take the cheap flight deals to cities like Prague and Amsterdam and the like.they are steeped in history and other unmentionables too haha but they are ten times more interesting then sitting on a packed plane for 4hrs with some annoying kid kicking your seat and then spending the rest of your holiday picking sand out of your *** haha

Because the US, Australia and NZ are too much like Britain.

Europe is close, has a lot of different cultures & variety to choose from and it has much better weather.

I don't know if I speak for everyone, but I also find it kinda cool to go to a country where everyone speaks a different language.

Oh, and one little fyi; for those people who keep saying "But Britain IS in Europe!", we often talk about Europe as if we're not a part of it and use that term to refer to the mainland.

I normally holiday in Europe for my holidays..The reason i do this because there is so much variety of things to see and do and on offer for everybody..I go there cos its close (short haul flight) and some countries are out the way from the busy tourists places like spain and greece etc... The cost also helps as in some countries is cheaper then other places...And normally i travel for 4 weeks in Europe and choose to hop around from country to country to be able to see more on my holidays and keeping the cost down... And it still feels like i been far and away from home to enjoy it!..What ever your you what on a holiday Europe has it.. There might be other reason but that's all i can think of right now ..lol... :)

Because it is cheaper to go to Europe, than to stay in UK. And they probably go someplace where they can play on the beach in warmer weather. I keep hearing about how awful the weather is in UK these days.

And it's more exotic. When your money is worth more abroad, and you HAVE some of it, you take advantage of the opportunity to go someplace different.

and then there's the fact that travel within the EU is so simple these days!
