Why do people keep saying bad things about Russians?

Cold War times left a lot of stereotypes about Russians and Americans.

I was born and raised in Russia and when I was 34 I moved to America. In two words I will tell you what I have observed:

If Russian women marry American men, and American women marry Russian men, the Planet Earth will be saved!

a lot of people still think that Russia is a tyrannic monster-country, where people are drinking vodka 24 hours a day and unleashed bears run around. i guess this is a stereotype, formed during the cold war. the west has always been intimidated by the powerful and mystical USSR, and now all this is transferred to their vision of modern Russia.

because they are losers!! or they are just jealous cuz they want to be like russians! lol they should judge themselves first, not russians!! russians are pretty straight-forward, but americans are nice to you, but then inside, they keep all the anger.. sorry not all americans.. its just that pretty much most of the americans I know are like that... sorry. I am not trying to offend anyone here. BUT still, people should keep their own opinions to themselves!!

all to often we form our opinions by negative comments we have heard and forget the positive comments. everyone i know who has been to russia speaks well of the russian people. also, our cultures are different and could make us misunderstand each other.

Cold war propaganda is living its last years. Pretty soon everyone will forget there ever was an antagonism between the U.S. and Russia.

I wish people would stop judging other by where they live, or what politics run their country. People, are people, some nice, some not so nice. When we start judging people as individuals rather then nations, ethinic groups, religious beliefs, and all that other crap, maybe we will see into the hearts and souls of all those just trying to have a decent life.

All that happens because of lack of education. Some people say something not knowing for sure, others believe and tell it as a piece of truth and so on. It is not only about Russia but about many other things

I have no idea but a bad things r said and we cant do nothin about it!!! we can persuade people that here is great but there are always people who r suspicious.....

They do drink a lot of vodka yes, not to sure about the other things your saying. You have to imagine that Russia is as big as Australia, and combines europe & asia. If you are a foreigner living & working in Russia you can have alot of problems, don't count on the police in helping you.

SO USA have institute of propaganda...AND THEY IS GOOD WORKERS AT THIS WAY.....and people which know only history of their native country with out view to outside,they will be damn and think another,then simple frenchmens or italians about Russia....Cold War is stopped in Russia,but USA do colourful revolutions at native russians brothers republics,give power to people which was ally of Hitler in WW2.....build pro systems in the East Europe,but not in nearest to Iran Turkey and dont in Japany....just ambitions to destroy Russia and movie russians like drunkers and evel inside of their country...So Such WILD TRuth about real our life....if you know,first drinkers country are Ireland,UK,Australia,NZ and after is Russia.....
