because people think that they are getting closer to their death time and panic in someway...so they try to please god to be put in heaven when they die...I guess..

atrak
Well I can gave answer about myself only.

When I'm gonna older I feel bit far away from "religion" at every year.

I'm bit homophobic ; maybe ( I'm not proud about it ) , chill, more logical, tranquil, house lover but I'm not religious.

Because I still had many thing to do.

All I can imagine old guys/gals haven't occupations for spend time, maybe they want be a part of something, a big thing.

That's why they join communities , they go slumming for charity, they spend money for philanthropic activities .. u know.

With this way they can prove something to selfs and others .. like "I'm a good guy who care others" .. kind of, u know.

.. Imho of course.

maybe what they have seen of life makes them believe and they are closer to the answer

Cause they have passed all phases,

they have many experiences and they finally know - in the ending of their life - what's important or not

In past, since the begging, people were always respecting older people, and they were asking their advice when there was touble and difficulties

nowadays this is not so common anymore

You must be talking about the 2 generations ahead of us. They had different upbringings and have different values. Do you really think that people of our generation will become more religious when they are old? I am talking in 50 years. I somehow have my doubts. As for me, I hope to die early so people can see me in my coffin without wrinkles.

Because that's when dementia sets in.

Strange, I find older people less idealist than younger people.
I know some who are a lot less religious than when they were younger, they're more chilled out now.

Wafflecopter
Because that inevitable "life after death" thing is getting a lot closer.

They want to fake their way into heaven. I hate people like that. If you're going to commit, then seriously do it throughout your whole lifetime.

Should be fear of death. Natural really. It's our most basic instinct.

Keyser
do they? none of the old people in my family suddenly got more religious when they got older...

Allan D is GAME OVER
Atrak, you expressed my feelings, I agree with your answer.
