Roland said in french :

"Est-ce que tu te sens libre etant un turc ... t'exprimant ta vraie identité fievreusement? Ça fait plus que 20 ans que j'étais visité Paris pour la premiere fois et chaque fois j'ai temoigné tant de l'animosité vers la Turquie et les turcs.. Dis-moi pourquoi?

Pourquoi est-ce que de Renaud a Jean-Jacques Goldman tous les artists et les intellectuelles ont de mauvaises ideés de la Turquie"

_____________

The translation of Roland's french message is :

"As a Turk,do you really feel yourself free ?( in France).
Can you really express your own true cultural identity ? (in France)
Now more than 20 years have past since the first time I travelled in France, and each time I came I could see by myself the hostility and prejudice from french people towards you the Turks...
Explain me, why ?

Why do singers as Renaud and Jean-Jacques Goldman, why do many french artists and french intellectuals have so bad opinions concerning your country?..."

I am Algerian-French, and I can say that French are not all the same. Some don't like you, but there are also somo people who admire you, don't worry.

The Europeans may not like you juste because you were the only Muslim people who has never been colonized by them, and there may be a complexe with this.
The Europeans know you were their rival in colonizing african, asian and balkan countries, so they still feel a real mistrust towards you. They don't trust you.

If Turkey had a lot of oil, or if it had a powerfull economy and a high-level technology like Japan, I suppose Euope would say to you " Please, enter in Europe, pleaaaase !"

I think you should all do the best your can to show them who you are, and then they will change their attitude.

First of all Roland is a Turk so don't worry about that Tanju, my answer is simple but in Turkish "meyveli agac taslanirmis".. Us Turks managed so well after Kurtulus savasi, we are a close nation and can not be apart and whatever we have gained in Turkiye we never used other nations or countries on the way, our closeness based on love not likely of some others based on hate...

That explains the jealousy and fear in my opinion..

yok bilmiyorum Tanju arkadas..

THE MAD TURKISH JAZZMAN
Jean-Charles, you are an extremist.
You are going to be banned again from Yahoo, I am sure of that.

Why are you doing your dirty propanda here in Yahoo ?
You'd better ask to Armenian government to sit on a table and to show their own archives, instead of insulting us.

Because they are looking with horse glasses and they dont want to know us. sometimes a get very angry when they are asking like where is Turkey? If you realy dont know where is Turkey write it any search engine and find it. Questions are not friendly. Why ? Their education is not telling them the truth. They try to write a new history. Like armenian history. They are teaching that we killed 1.5 million of them . In 1900 armenian population was only 750.000. And this 750.000 number is belongs to Armenian registration. Did we killed same person 2 times? In realty Armanians killed us.
1-) I think our problem is that we can not express our selves properly.
2-) Europe sees only the low profile Turks which go their to work but actually Turks are not like that.We turks this year have celebrated both the New Year and the Sacrifice Eid at the same day. This shows are multiculture. But they dont want to be aware of this multiculture.
3-) Crusader War's grand children are still teaching Turks and muslims are as if they are enemies.
4) Our duty is to try to explain and teach them what we really are in a very polite and calm manner.
5) Bütün Türk arkadaşlarada sabırlı olup gerçekleri anlayacakları dilde ( 3 yaşındaki bir çocuğa anlatır gibi ) tane tane anlatalım.

Saygılar,

best wishes

JASON BOURNE Aegean Janissary
Because Europeans just don't like Muslims !

I am Arab in Paris too, and we are not really appreciated by the french indigens...
I know that Turks suffer also of prejudice and hatred, what a pity !

I know that it's a question of religion, nothing else...WHY? Because they respect Armenians and Greeks, who look very similar as you concerning physical and face.

So it's easy to understand that they are racist. IT'S A SHAME

ErAs
I think u should have asked this question in french part...

JanDennis90
I had never been to france but I live in Germany and my father is turkish.(mother german) In germany there are a few people who hate people from other countries but the most of the people are against rassism and demonstrate against it.I think the rassists dont know what the turkish had done great and they think that turkey is a poor country with extremists. THEY ARE WRONG!!!
Turkey is the only islamic country in the NATO and Ataturk had given the turkish people the right to choose theyre religion. He also had given the women the same rights than the man. I cant speak turkish but Im used to learn it. Okay then güle güle.
P.S. **** you "jean Charles de rochelier" you are a damn rassist and europe dont wants people like you. I think you had never been to turkey and you dont know what you talking about.
GO HOME,HITLER IS DEAD!!!

Dear Fatih,

I am also agree with all my friends, it is really good question. Congratulations !

For Eras, Eras is a good point for you. :-) Thanks.
For Roland, Roland I do not know French. Would you please translate it ? Or Fatih would you please translate it ? I mean I wonder, that question.

In my opinion, the main problem comes from Ottoman Empire. Many Years, Ottoman Empire prevailed to the Balkan States. You know, they come to the Door of Austria. If they conquer the Doors, Germany and France ways was open.
I mean this is really so important. Everyone thinks again. Thinks and Thinks.

Anyway, Turkiye accepted Ottoman Empire inheritance. I mean Turkish Government paid Ottoman Empire's debt. No one said bad things, for the Ottoman Empire. I did not hear, if anyone was hear something, please write.

I think this is the main problem.

Kind Regards,
Tanju

my friends, i wont talk about why but just count how many countries declared independence from ottoman empire. Their nationalism is just anti Turkish.

I think many people believe that the Turks are similar to the people in Iran, Iraq, etc. Mainly it is just ignorance. I too thought the same until I visited Turkey and later married a Turk. We of course still have some misunderstandings because of our cultural differences. But, we do talk and try to work things out. If nothing else we "agree" to "disagree". But we do try to respect each others thoughts, etc. I still feel Turkey has along way to go before it can be part of the EU. I don't know if it will really be good for the average person. I know the rich people continue to get rich and the poor stay poor. Life is difficult here for most. The Turkish people as a whole are friendly, and most try to be "open-minded". As in all countries there are the few that are not very nice. Those I just ignore.

Wow i didn't know Turks were hated so much. I personally don't :).
I'm sure Turks aren't hated in Turkey, as Mexicans aren't hated in Mexico and Greeks aren't hated in Greece.

Roland
Good question..
I'd like to learn your opinions as well...

WHY, for God's sake, is Turkey one of the most hated countries in the world -after Israel and USA?

THAT I wonder myself too

As you are a Turkish gut living in Paris, you tell me:
Est-ce que tu te sens libre etant un turc ... t'exprimant ta vraie identité fievreusement? Ça fait plus que 20 ans que j'étais visité Paris pour la premiere fois et chaque fois j'ai temoigné tant de l'animosité vers la Turquie et les turcs.. Dis-moi pourquoi?

I don't have anything against people with a different background than me. I I believe everyone is my brother or sister, and God wants me to get a long. I try to go on a person by person basis. Although I have an idea in my head what I consider a good or bad person. And I may not want to associate with you if you are unkind or try to destroy my values, or do things to harm others. If you do not do these things then I believe no matter who you are we could be friends. :)

Let me guess... Because Turkey is one of the main exporters of low-cultured non-white immigrants to Europe (not necessarily poor)? Because the Ottoman Empire conquered a major part of Europe and delayed its development by a couple of centuries, wounding the culture of the captured countries and making them seem inferior to other Europeans? More specifically, because it conquered and desecrated the most important Christian city and still keeps it under its yoke, pretending to be European because of it? Because its long-term historical influence is the reason for conflicts in the Balkans? Because the Turks refuse to assimilate in European countries, and even if they do not, they are still hardly capable of doing so, being physically alien? Because there is a long history of European women marrying Turks, being attracted by their macho qualities, and then being treated like slaves and having their lifes scarred forever? Because European women from poorer Slavic and Baltic states are being sold to Turkey as sex slaves? Because of the long history of ideologically based wars between Turkey and European states, as opposed to wars for territory between European states themselves? Because Turkey wants to be what it is not, a European country (and I do not mean 'civilised' by 'European')?

BUT! Don't get all upset. Everything can be forgiven, and both parties are interested in good relations. Give the European part of Istanbul back to Greece (or Bulgaria, or any other European state), stop immigration to Europe, cease the imperial 'Euroasian' ambitions and fully embrace the Asian origin of your folk, continue your development, produce modern cultural valuables (say, PC games - the only good Turkish one that I'm aware of is Mount & Blade), interact with Europeans on the internet, and eventually your relations will be settled for good. You will be respected as a nation and sometimes even loved for being what you are - like Japan is nowadays, for example. A perfectly civilised Asian country that doesn't seemingly meddle in the affairs of states that don't have anything to do with it.

Yes, it is understandable that some of these requirements are difficult for Turkey to implement, and it is unlikely that it will willingly give up its European colonies and stop the mass migration, but until you do so the way common people (not politicians) think of you won't really improve. That is, unless Asian and African immigrants thwart the original white population of Europe.

P.S. I don't live in the EU or a EU-candidate country, and I don't belong to any ethnicity that was directly persecuted by the Ottoman Empire, so relax.
