WHAT A LOVELY QUESTION !! HAPPY TO SEE SOMEONE WHO THINKS LIKE ME .
I GET ANNOYED OF CERTAİN PEOPLE WHO MAKE REMARKS ON EVERY SUBJECT ABOUT TURKEY ESPECİALLY LEONARDA. FOR EXAMPLE THERE WAS A QUESTION ON THE HISTORY OF OUR FLAG AND WHAT IT MEANT ? AND THERE YOU HAVE PEOPLE GİVİNG ANSWERS.

I DONT MİND OFCOURSE THEM ANSWERING QUESTIONS ABOUT TURKEY BUT NOT THE HISTORY OR OTHER RELEVENT MATTERS . DO YOU SEE ANY OF US GİVİNG İNFO ABOUT GREEK HISTORY OR ETC. I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW WHERE THEY STAND.

AND ON THE OTHER HAND TURKEY İS A SAFE PLACE TO LIVE IN THEN NEWYORK , LONDON AND OTHER EUROPEAN COUNTRIES. THERE ARE MANY MANY BAD İNCİDENTS HAPPENİNG ALL AROUND THE WORLD LİKE İN EUROPE OR AMERİCA A WHİTE POLİCEMAN İS BEATİNG UP A BLACK PERSON JUST BECAUSE HE İS BLACK. YOU KNOW WHAT; TURKEY İS NEVER AND WİLL NEVER BE A RACİST COUNTRY AND THATS WHY MANY ETHNİC GROUPS LİVE FREELY AND IN PEACE IN TURKEY. THERE ARE NO KURDİSH İSSUE İN TURKEY . WE TURKS HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THE KURDS FOR ALL I AM CONCERNED EVERYONE WHO LIVES WITHIN THE TURKISH TERRİTORIES ARE TURKISH . THE ONLY PROBLEM İS THE PKK WHICH IS A TERRORİST GROUP .
BUT OFCOURSE SORRY WE HAVE TO ASK PERMİSSİON TO DEFEND OUR COUNTRY FROM THE EUROPEANS AND THE USA.

AND THE GAY ISSUE , THERE ARE MANY GAYS WHO LIVE IN TURKEY AND WHY SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT KILL THE GAY PEOPLE. THE GOVERNMENT HAS MORE AND MORE İMPORTANT MATTERS TO DEAL WİTH .

TURKEY İS A MODERN , MUSLIM AND A SECULAR COUNTRY FORMED WİTH THE PRİNCİPLES OF ATATÜRK. AND IT WİLL STAY MUSLIM ,MODERN AND SECULAR NO MATTER WHAT İS DONE.

So what about Cyprus then? And Kurds?

I have met some nice people from Turkey, and I've been there, so I am not completely ignorant. But I have to say I do not like what I see on the news ... It is not ALL made up, is it?

It is true that most of Europeans have prejudices against us due to a number of cultural and historical reasons,yet we must admit some home truths about ourselves,such as the high rate of people carrying guns,murder and the mafia ,now that religious fanatism.

I am Greek but not an enemy.I think that Turkey has to do the following things.
1.Control the islamists but democratically
2.Control the Generals.The soldier has to obey the political leaders.Otherwise the system is not Democracy
3.Stop annoying neighboring countries
4 Withdraw the army from Cyprus.Invading an other country is not accepted.
5.Better relations with Greece,stop buying so many arms and spent money for education
6 Stop begging Europe 50 per cent of north Europeans are racist I salute the free voices of Turkey We lived together and maybe we could do a big and good economic relation

Apparently you live in the part of your country which has been influenced by the western civilisation...have you ever been informed about what happens in the distant provinces of Turkey? Do women have rights there? Don't you know that there are educated turks who try to change this abuse? Don't you know that yours, and everybodies' destiny is still controlled by the army?

Oh ignorance. Once, I talked to a European (?) who claimed that Turks were Arabs. I tried to explain to him that Turks were not Arabs and did not speak Arabic, but he was so insistent, lol. He knew it better than me. Then, I ignored him. There is nothing we can do about it I think. They lack good education and vision.

I am English and have lived in Turkey for some years.I love it here or I would not be here.It is stupid to deny a lot of things don't happen.People do give money to families for their daughters in arranged marriages and the girls have Little or no choice,brothers kill their sisters because the girl is raped therefore a disgrace, in the western part there are plenty of gays but if they went flaunting it in the east they would no doubt be attacked.Most civilised Turks would admit these things happen and abhor them.Men in rural communities do beat their wives and though it is illegal it is not frowned on by some of the rural communities.It is slowly changing but not perfect and to say it doesn't happen shows the people answering don't know what they are talking about.The Turkish law is very up to date with European law but enforcing it and changing cultural attitudes is not keeping up with the law but hopefully it is changing.Edd is the only sensible answer here.

Turks are very nice people, and its a very modern secular country, apart from in the far east where its a bit strange, but they mainly kurds :)

Hahaha...But dear, they say the same things also to us in Greece...And you know?the childish pornografy has been found in Belgium, and in many european countries girls have been disappeared..So...dont pay attention.It can happen everywhere, yes, when there are women easy going etc...Especially with the women of the ex comunist countries, but excuse me...these women they do the same in every country...About gays...i havent heard sth like that...

Turkey is not a great modern country at all. It still has laws against anyone acknowledging the ethnic-cleansing of the Greeks in the early 20th century.

If Turkey was so great they wouldnt be paying other Turks living in Europe to sell their daughters as wives to the highest bidder back in Turkey.

Turks run out of that country as soon as they have the chance. I dont see masses of Germans trying to get into Turkey.

There is usually part from some Armenians and Greeks not much anti-Turk....That's what I have seen here...

There are these ignorant people which watches TV and believe in every single word they hear are annoying but harmless in my opinion...

I live in a European country and I have never seen people as racist, they have prejudice and they are living like plants...

Gay people get treated like a second class citizen over in Europe....Turkish gays are free and accepted...so if someone to compare perhaps instead of seeing it on TV they should go and see the reality...

it just dawned on me that people say these things because it is so easy to get a reaction.
There are certain topics that the whole world knows will make most Turks blood boil at the first mention and suddenly you've got an argument and for some reason people think that is funny.
for example: 'gobble gobble' that makes a lot of people angry!?!? but it is meaningless and shouldn't bother anyone, do we say 'sizzle sizzle' to people from Greece? (grease, fry things, sizzle sizzle), no, cause it wouldn't bother them, it is meaningless too. You should be confident and ignore them when they say something to get you arguing. They just want to 'make you crazy.'
