The same reason why Turkey won't cross the borders into Iraq.

The US has no beef with Turkey until they cross border.

You all know that, so what are you waiting for?

BTW- do you know how stupid most of you sound?
The US has made it quite clear where they stand.

How much more do you need. Bush has said over and over its not in Turkey's best interest to invade Iraq. That's why Turkey has not and will not.

Where is Turkeys balls? I know, in Bush's pocket.

Pala Remzi
HAAH HAAAH HAAA!..
thank you for making my day... you brought a genuine laughter

if you're American, submit this request to your senator & congreesman.. Haah haah haa

The Turkish are tougher guys than you can imagine.
They'll soon turn that foolish attempt of Americans into so much of a HELL that what Americans go through in Iraq would look like paradise in comparison..

USA don't have the balls for that

my answers is "hangisini düzeltelim birader!"
*Not "turkey", it is TÜRKİYE.
**not "Kurds", it is "pkk" .
finally i say: "sıkıysa denesin".

Totally Blunt
USA didn't invade Iraq to protect Kurds. USA invaded Iraq to protect the oil wells.

What the Kurds will see, sooner or later, that nobody really cares about Kurds. They don't really care for their feudal, women abusing system, either. People care for energy resources or regional power. Sooner or later Kurds will see that it is in their best interest to make friends with Turkey, become a laicist, multi-ethnic, democratic country.

Here we go again. Different day but same BS over 'n over again. I love when they bark and the neighbor gets mad n brings his BB gun n shoot that barking provocative dirty dog right in the rear bottom hahahaha wouldn't that be funny seeing him/her jumping behind the bushes keep yelling ouch ouch :)))))))) Dude you are a kURD it's "OBVIOUS" and for those who thinks he's from US c'mon he's just trying to start a bloody argument between us (as Turks) and the U.S.

Despite your spelling mistakes ( I don't think it was intentional), I see you have a point there. I assume you have an interest in international politics, as well as human rights. However, I cannot understand your interest in the issue, unless you are nationalist Kurd. You cannot possibly be an American (they are not so naive anymore). Even sound-minded Americans can see that such an adventurous move could ignite the 3rd World War.
Let me brief you on some of the scenarios based on your point (and these scenarios are not just written/read in Turkey, they are in the files of many countries). Here it goes:
US supports and protects Kurdish armed gangs in northern Iraq and provokes Turkey. Turkey sends special forces across the border to chase, catch and wipe out the terrorists. They encounter US forces and are completely wiped out by the US army (using their satellite support and high-tech weaponry). Turkey is drawn into a battle with the US.
Turkish forces concentrate their attacks across the Iraqi border targetting the US Army unit responsible for the deaths of Turkish soldiers.
USAF and US Navy bombard Turkish cities with Cruise missiles, inflicting heavy casualties and destroying historical buildings as well as energy sources. Turkey declares state of war, all reserves are called in (with volunteers about 5-6 million people are under arms).
Kurdish PKK supporters attempt an uprising in the south-east but are silenced by retired special forces who are back in action.
US decides to send in troops using planes, helicopters and the navy, to invade Turkey. All US troops are met with heavy resistance (guerilla warfare, ever heard of it?). They are stuck in a different kind of Vietnam! Nato disintegrates, EU is in a chaos. Bombs explode in large US cities. Americans demonstrate against the war.
Russia allies with former Soviet and Orthodox countries, including Greece, and declares full support to Turkey.
US soldiers, who are still alive in Turkey, begin to surrender.
New military/economic alliances are formed, and the US draws back to her own beaches, never again to venture into the oceans.

You may say I am a dreamer but if you check you will see that this is one of the worst (for the US) scenarios in some files. Would you like to think it over before asking your question? Nobody would like to die for petrol anymore.
Protect Kurds? Which Kurds, the ones who are Turkish citizens? They have equal rights and are well represented in the Turkish parliament. You can do a simple internet search and find out for yourself.
As for me I wouldn't give a penny of tax to any government who would spend my money in such a dangerous adventure. I want to go to Turkey for my summer holiday.

Where did this come from? Looks like you took a paragraph each from the Sun, the Mail and the Daily Sport, then wiped your backside on the paper before reading it.

Do you actually have any idea what's going on there?

I have seen many stupid questions and answers till now but THIS, this is beyond stupid...

Matt
If you are American... I appologize on the behlaf of America that we have ignorant people within our borders that would ask such a question...

If you are by some chance serious... please please just read some books or articles in Political Science magazines about the importance of the current political relationship between Turkey and the US. After that, please read about PKK and the thousands of innocent lives they have taken in terrorist attacks. Then, you can repost a better question that I can actually work with...

That is a great question you should ask Pelosi, Schiff and all the other brain dead people in the US Congress that. Oh I forgot, There was Vietnam, then they are still looking for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq (have they found any just yet ?), then there is Uncle Osama a crippled old man hiding in the mountains, (with the billions of dollars spent on satellite technology and everything else they still can't find him), then there is Iraq a population of approximately 12 Million or so they can't deal with, oh yes let's not forget Afghanistan they are doing a marvelous job with the Taliban, oh and then there was Somalia. All those dangerous mountain men with their stone age weapons still running around in defiance of the MIGHTY US of A and it's Nuclear arsenal. Sure that's a great idea get the US to bomb Turkey I double dare you :))

what? Are you totally crazy? Why shouldn't Turkey be allowed to protect itself and its citizens from terrorist attacks from Kurdish separatists. Sorry, but you obviously haven't got a clue what you are talking about.

I think they should invade you to protect humanity. What a silly person you are!

Usa is not strong enough to beat Turkey

Richard R
Lets think of some reasons:
1. We need Turkey's friendship more than we need the Kurds.
2. Turkey is a major trading partner, the Kurds arent
3. Turkey is the only secular moslem state, and while its military occasionally takes over when politicians become too dangerous, they are a democracy.
4. They have a very big and very well equipped military and manufactures their own F16 Jets. Every male has military training and service.
5. Its a very large country, lots of mountains with places to hide and the people are fiercy independent and nationalistic, unlike the tribal disunity of Iraq
6. Its the only pro-israel Moslem state. Do you really want to disturb the Israelis?
7. The Turks have never done us any harm. They have been a staunch ally for decades.
8. Iraqis behead visiting Americans. (all right, the Kurds don't)
Turkey provides a great place for vacation and will sell Americans beautiful rugs.
9. Turkey doesn't have a bit of oil
10. We don't have enough military power left to invade Lichtenstein. We would lose.

am
How about letting the Turks and Kurds settle there own problems?

As you see, neither answerers nor US thinks that invading Turkey is possible...

If you wish you can search on internet how difficult to beat Turks in a battle... Such as during WWI, and just after the WWI, a lot of country tried it but they werent able to gain war against poor and alone Turkey...

Let's take the words invade and Turkey out of the
question. The rest of the question is still dumb enough but let's assume America does want to invade Turkey one day.
That decision would be made and put it in action by some politicians, who wouldn't have any idea about the outcome.
At the moment none of the politicians have the testicles to even dare let the word invasion cross their mind. However at the present rate of increasing stupidity amongst American politicians it might one day, after having invaded a whole bunch of dessert emirates, seem to be logical to some
one cell organisms out there that they could handle an invasion of Turkey. They just have to make sure that the World will be ready to look away then as they will have to use weapons of mass destruction. That however wouldn't leave any survivors including the Kurds to be protected.
If on the off chance some two cell organisms out there manage to convince the politicians that mass destruction weapons could trigger other weapons of the same kind but in different countries, then they will have to use their conventional capabilities. It then won't take them too long to realize that Turkey is neither Iraq nor Vietnam.

What a bunch of dopers
in here, except for Lady
GOP who told you just
how it is. Yea right we will
protect the Kurds by invading
a country who has no attentions
of openly attacking Iraq in
the first place. They
will sneak behind our backs and try to
drop some bombs, or do there
own secret terror attacks that they
think we have been blind too. But otherwise
how can we attack a country that appears
to be kissing our azz!

add:( sultan how do I revive your brain
to at least minimum warp, oh maybe
by reminding you that Turkey has 622,850
active (military) and the
United States has1,479,000
active (military)We do not need to
use nuclear warfare to end Turkeys misery.
That is why your government who is smarter then
you right now won't make a move
unless Bush is behind it. Or did you
just think your president had a crush
on Bush thats why he is doing everything
he tells him too.
In the meantime go sell your sewer somewhere else.
