Why is Greece so Anti American?

There asre two parts to answer
Sadly, the same reason most of the world dislikes USA. It should not be a personal thing, it is more about the bulllying american government and the world getting overwhelmed by American culture, much of which is crass.
Soem people forget that many of you are really nice, in fact most Americans who travel ARE nice.
Secondly, there is a bit of a chip on the shoulder thing in Greece, which like Serbia, has had pretty raw deal in international decisions.
It is a shame if people take out the problems of your politicians on you, trying ot enjoy your holiday. On the other hand, going on about how grea t america is will, I hope, get you slung out of anywhere...it is simply not a civilized or dignified way of behaving

Almost the who world is anti -American and it is mostly because the lousy international politics behaviors.

Who would truly like a country ( please note that I am not talking about individual people but the national politics and beliefs) that invades countries with wrongful decisions and kill over one million civilians? Yes, I am talking about Iraq.

No need to mention what USA politics are doing to the environment i.e, not signing the Kyoto protocol, promote and encourage unnecessary consumption and don;t care about waste and related pollution while half of the world is at the verge of facing serious food, water and energy shortages.

BTW, I am Turkish and this is my opinion. It is not showing Greek point of views. I just want to tell my own opinions.

We certainly aren't anti-American! There are so many of us living in the States. And so many Americans live here.
Expressing our own point of view about politics, history and society doesn't make us anti-American.
By the way, are you American? You don't seem like one to me.

Most countries hate/fear America because of all the above (in other answers) Please do not confuse this with hating individuals - no one hates individual Americans unless they are spouting complete crap about 'God Bless America' in a foreign country, Unfortunately Greeks remember history very well and American has had it's finger in many pieces of recent history which was against Greece. They supported the dictatorship in 1975 - a country that promotes 'Freedom and free speech - actually supported a dictator ... or junta! Laughable!

No one in Greece hates individual people of certain countries!

Also the war is totally wrong in my opinion - who gives any country the right to walk into another because they have decided they don't like the way that the people are treated and maybe they are a threat .... maybe! Then are shocked when the locals retaliate ... in their own country! It seems the only threat in the world today is America invading your country ... on a whim (so who is more dangerous?)
90,390 Iraqi civilians have died because of this 'war' (which cannot be called a war as it is one sided) 90,000 + have been 'freed' at the hands of America ... freed by death!

I wasnt participating for some time in yahoo answers, and by coming back i thought that it was worth it to keep answering but i am not so sure now - I am truly ashamed of those who act like children and hide behind the anonymity that Internet provides

Greeks aren't Anti Americans at all! I am very surprised by your question, because IT'S NOT TRUE AT ALL.
Greeks aren't the people who are going to be offended if you don't show respect to their culture or if you don't try to speak in their language, if you don't say "Hello" or "Buy" or "Thank you".
But I think that it is just you that expect a special treatment and maybe you ignore that in Greece, just like in France for example, also in Italy, you will have to wait after ordering and people aren't so strict professionals. Maybe they didn't welcome you with a wide smile, but that wasn't because you are an American. GET OVER IT ALREADY!

Greeks are weird. They hate the US yet they keep moving here, while letting Muslims and Africans take over there country. You go to Athens and all you hear is Turkish and Urdu
