think it like this:
Your mother have has sex with other men
(otherwise you wouldn't be born, right?)

now tell me how would you like it if they call your mother a "w.h.o.r.e" for that?

and how would you feel if some other person gets to ask you
"why do you get angry with this labeling? sex is sex, the action is the same but why do you get mad at such labelling?"

I think these videos might explain it (especially the first one). A little background history:
Orhan Pamuk (a Turkish, Nobel Prize winner) was PUT IN JAIL, for saying that there was a genocide. It was not until heavy international pressure, that the Turkish government released him, but exiled him out of the country. Also, see Taner Akcam's books. He is also a Turkish scholars.
One more thing, recently, a Turkish-Armenian journalist(Hrant Dink) was assassinated outside of his office. Why, because he used the "g" word.

No one can randomly accuse people of crimes against humanity, without something to back it up.

Among many texts written on this subject, I particularly like: "A Shameful Act: The Armenian Genocide and the Question of Turkish Responsibility (Paperback)
by Taner Akcam...again, hes Turkish.

Turks just don't like the consequences of there actions. They did the same thing with Cyprus, they invaded it yet cried when the EU rejected them because of it.

Who is Katchaznouni?
--------------------------

Hovannes Katchaznouni is the first prime-minister of
the Armenian state founded in July 1918.He was is power
as the head of gouvernment until August 1919,for thirteen
months. He was among the founders of the Dashnagzoutiun
Party and one of its top leaders. He was the prime authority
Of Armenia and the Dashnagzoutiun Party.

Publication of the Report.
-------------------------------

Hovannes Katchaznouni voices a self-critism of the past
İn this conference report.
Hovannes Katchaznouni publishes his report very urgently,
1923,that same year. The title he uses once more emphasizes
his pproposal of suicide:”Dashnagzoutiun has nothing to do
Anymore”.
The book published in Armenian was translated into Russian
Four years later and an edition of only 2000 copies was
Published in Tbilisi in 1927 as a warning or lesson.
Certains parts of the book was published in England in 1955
with the title “The Armenian Revolutionary Federation
(Dashnagsoution)has nothing to do any more” by the
“Armenian information service “ in New York.

What is interresting but what seems natural when the content
Of the book is taken into consideration,is the fact that this
Historical report by the first Armenian prime minister was
Banned in Armenian. It is also a fact that all the COPİES
WERE COLLECTED from the libraries in Europe by the
DASHNAGS.All the copies in all languages were collected
From European libraries .The book is included in the
Catalogues but no copies can be found in the racks.
--------------------------------------...
Katchaznouni’s Observations:
-----------------------------------

The first Prime Minister of the Dashnagzoution Government makes the following observations:
-It was a mistake to establish the volounter units.
-They were unconditionally allied with Russia.
-They had not taken into consideration the balance of power which was in Türkiye’s favour.
-The decision of the deportation of Armenians was a rightful measure taken by Türks to serve their purpose.
-Türkiye had acted with an instinct of self-defence.
-The British occupation once more aroused the hopes of the Dashnags.
-What they established in Armenia was a Dashnag dictatorship.
-They had acted in pursuit of the imperialist demand,”fredom sea to sea” and had been provoked with this.
-They massacred the Muslim population.
-The Armenian terrorist activities were directed at winning over the Western public opinion.
-The fault was not to be found outside the Dashnagzoutiun Party.
-The Dashnagzoutiun Party had nothing else to do but commit suicide.

Nothing more than HONOUR, it wasn't genocide and there is a ton of evidence against the genocide thesis for the neutral observer to look over.

However, unlike in most EU nations HONOUR still means something to the Turks. Read books by independent Prof's such as Stone, McCarthy Lewy, Fiegl, Mango, Bernard Lewis (Who was convicted in France for stating that there was no genocide) in reality a political recognition means nothing. These matters occurred over 92 years ago and everything was settled via International Treaties including claims to Land and Compensation etc. So in effect by having it recognised as Genocide will have no REAL benefit to those that support it. However, for those who know about the Malta Tribunals and other court matters which have stated that it wasn't a genocide calling it one politically is great disrespect and dishonour for all the Turkish Victims of Armenians that were also murdered. There is a difference between mass murders and a pre planned pre meditated plan by a Government to exterminate a race or population or part there of.

It's like me calling you a Murderer without a Court Conviction or evidence. I could well be sued but Dead men can not sue. Get the gist.

Turkey is angry because what right does the U.S. have to meddle in Turkish/Armenian business and history? Personally, I think the U.S. should own up to its own failings (how about the genocide that occured in America against Native Americans?!) before pointing fingers at historical failings and controversies in other countries.

This is a hugely controversial thing in Turkey and should be resolved here, not prodded along by politicians in the West who may or may not have ever stepped foot on Turkish or Armenian soil.

Qu'est ce que tu pense?
We (and a small majority of Americans) simply don't want to admit to it, because it's not true.

Edit- The TRUTH is that the Armenians were not ethnically cleansed by the Turks. If anything, the Turks were killed by the Armenians during WWI. Russia loaned weapons to Armenians living in Turkey in order to backstab us and receive favor in the eyes of the allies at the time. If you watch the videos, they elaborate the detail of this and give a very clear image of the truth in which everybody should realize.

Edit2- Turks don't like the "brand" in which the US government has labeled this so called incident as, because it's a lie to say that there was even a genocide. That would be like saying that American vegetarians committed a genocide on cows...it doesn't make logical sense.
Turkey has the youngest generation of old people in Europe http://www.globalaging.org/ruralaging/world/turkish.htm
This comes to my question...what happened to Turkey's elderly generation? They didn't simply just walk off the face of the earth of course. Another point is why Armenia isn't on the list either. One could draw a conclusion that while the Armenian elderly population is fine, the Turkish elderly population barely exists, therefore concluding that the Turks could have possibly been the victims of this "so called" Armenian genocide...case closed.

hanibal
You are missing the main thing.

Armenians killed Turks with French and Russian armies at 1915 to 1921.

Why don't you ask your self this easy question .
Where are these 1.500.000 peoples graves ? At 1915 all Armenians population was 750.000. Did we killed them 2 times.

This is a big lie . Open your eyes please.

Actually the answer lies within your question: 'branding'.
Who gives the right to the US to brand other nations/countries? Being a super power (whatever that means) does not give the US the right to dictate to others whatever she wishes. Moreover, Turkey (or the Ottoman Empire) has never been convicted in any international court of a 'genocide', neither has anyone been able to provide concrete evidence/documents of such a horrible act. On the contrary, Turkey's pleas to allow historians and academics to examine archives of all concerned have been refused by Armenians and 'others concerned'. Can you guess why? Because their lies will be slapped into their faces!
Enough is enough! Certain powers have been trying to prevent/delay Turkey's fast paced development using various tactics. One is this unbased Armenian allegation, the other inflicting terrorist attacks on Turkey using PKK.

It is not enough that this country had not learned from Vietnam and
Iraq, but now the House wants to re-write history concerning the Armenian
Turkish conflict. The problem is, the West is trying to judge history
with respect to its own historical and cultural references.Racism is a
Western concept, which didn't have a place in Turkish or Ottoman history
and the West cannot understand anti-racist Ottomans. Annihilation is a
Western concept and the West cannot understand the Ottomans which
chose to let live instead of wipe out. Assimilation is a Western concept
and the West cannot accept the fact that different ethnic groups could
live together.

Mainstream Western understanding has given the word "culture" a
specific meaning and does not understand culture beyond that. And it chooses
to denigrate what it does not understand. The problem is, the last real
empire that the West had was the Roman empire. Later so-called
"empires" were only colonial formations, not real empires, and depended on
exploitation and repression. Like Ilber Ortayli said, the last Roman type
empire was the Ottoman empire.

You can't really expect the (declining) Western powers to understand
and appreciate something that is really different from their
understanding of politics. That's like Americans appreciating Martian culture and
politics. However while the House voted acknowledging the Armenian
Genocide, it disregared the Azerbaijan Genocide of 1905-1907 by the
Armenians.
When will the House stop robbing Peter to pay Paul

I'm tired of arguments about it with Turks. When nationalism becomes stronger than it should be, people go blind.
People say and talk about their ideas and their "ideological situation" as if it is reality.
It's not just about nationalism, but every kind of ideology.
I don't really understand WHY it is considered an insult to Turkishness, its about Ottoman times, not now!
Since everyone responsible for the genocide is dead now and they don't have the power anymore, we have to talk openly about it and accept what has happened, without considering it an insult or something.
But even in Turkey its not allowed. The Article 301 exists to represent Turkish intellectuals as "criminals".
And guess what will happen to a "criminal" which has "insulted Turkishness" in an ultra-nationalist society.

When Turkey calls on Armenians to talk about it openly, that seems like a funny JOKE, because its blocked inside Turkey, even Turks can't talk about it openly.
Blocking inside Turkey and discussing openly with Armenians?!

Totally Blunt
Let's say you are my nextdoor neighbor. You slap me, I slap you and then you go to court, saying I tortured you.

How fair would that be? Should I "admit" that I tortured you, just because you went to court first?

genç türk
Friends don't call their friends ancestors "killers". We know that the USA is the land of the descendants of the dregs of european and african societies who commited a full blown genocide against indians but we would not tell them for they are our allies. Or shall I say "were".
