Why the Turkish government has threatened to go to war to stop Iraqi Kurds from creating an independent state?

An independent Kurdish State in northern Iraq will provoke Kurds in Turkey to break away. That is the new state will want land from Turkey. Would you stay and watch such a development, or try to protect the integrity of your country?

Hi,
Türkiye fears an independent Iraqi Kurdistan might further encourage separatism among Türkiye’s own sizeable Kurdish population.
Turkish government said the Türkish army should carry out a cross-border invasion to root out P.K.K holed up in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The Turkish government has demanded that Iraqi forces arrest members of the PKK, who use northern Iraq as a haven to carry out attacks against Turkish targets, and extradite them back to Türkiye to stand trial. Türkiye fears this terrorist group is resurgent and estimates as many as four thousand PKK terrorists are currently in Iraq.
Barzani, threatened to “interfere†with the Türkiye’s Kurdish populations if Türkiye continued “interfering†in northern Iraq, particularly in Kerkük.
Türkiye considers Kerkük a historically Turkmen city.Türkiye fears it would provide a steady flow of revenue from Iraqi Kurds to fund the terrorist attacks in Türkiye.
also,i would recommand to you some articles about this issue:

Because that will threaten the integrity of Turkey. Besides the question of Musul and Kerkuk is not resolved yet. Finally the nortern territories of Iraq are geograpically almost made for terroristic incursions of PKK into Turkey. We just cannot help it.

The creation of an independent Kurdish state would destabilize Iraq further even if some people think such thing is not possible.

What would that mean. Iraq would break apart completely and a Civil War of another dimension would break out.

Turkey couldn't possibly be interested that this happens because this would destabilize the whole region, including other countries such as Iran, which is also a neighboring country.

All this would lead to more problems in the Southern East and this has not only something to do with the separatist groups.

My impression is that there is already an independent Kurdish state with an independent Kurdish government making statements in CNN and the world press on a 24/7 basis...So I am not sure what are we talking about here..

As for the Turkish threats: there is oil down there. Too much. And that's definitely what guarantees that Americans and the western alliance will keep Kurdistan safe and happy. No matter who doesn't like this idea or for whatever reason...Because its not about Turkey. It's about non-Russian oil running endlessly in the West..In other words: Turkey what?

It is too big of an issue to discuss it in this forum.

iraq is a war zone,a new kurdish state there wouldnt get anywhere.its about time turks, iraqis syrians ect just stood up to kurdish agression and just work together to stamp out these terrorists.kurds kill more innocent kurds than they do anyone else.kurds dont even agree with other kurds about what kurdistan should be.there is this whole fake 'dream' that all kurds are united in one nationalist cause to create some obscure motherland where they all get thier freedom and own country.in reality this wouldnt work as kurds war with each other, and u cant create a new islamic state with warring factions on the borders of such unstable zones.kurds dont have any recent history of ever having a secure civilised state,so why should they be given one so fast and at the expense of huge chunks of turkush land? because in thier folklore some idiot kurd just decided to redraw the map and decide to include in kurdish borders all the oil fields ? no no no.
