Europe is already almost entirely linked economically, but in terms of sovereignty it will probably never happen.

Not in our lifetimes. There is just too much nationalism, pride, history and rivalries between the nations. Not to mention the language barriers.

Now, having stated that, they are doing quite a nice job of holding the EU together.

No; it will never be, because there are several languages, and because Europe is the birthplace of most of the colons who went to the Americas and Australia.
In a "new world", different people can gather and be united behind a new flag and a new identity, but in the very original world that's just impossible to happen.

I think it should. The reason? Because we need to dispose of this hatred for other people that seems to linger everywhere, and in my eyes there are very few ways this will happen, but I believe that only once we are actually united as one race (ie all the ignorant morons realise that we are all human, homo sapien, regardless of what we look like or where we're from) will it disappear. We need this to happen and I think unifying Europe (through proper means, not the usual "I want your country to be controlled by my country" approach) is one step closer to it. Earth is where we all live, and humans are what we all are, simple as.

i doubt it! maybe in a LONG time.The reason because europe have to many conflicts.Altough some countries are good friends like France and Britain,each country has there OWN history and if they ALL unite maybe there will bigger problems.It should stay as it is or unite new countries like lebanon etc.The bigger it gets the stronger it gets!
