1. To the questioner:
My advice is to not get stressed over it. Don't "try" to find someone because you feel you need to. Follow your heart. It is good to want to marry someone within your culture, but it is also Ok to marry a non-Greek! Plus, you need to keep your options wider, not confined to the people you will meet at church or summer camp, these are very few men compared to all your possibilities. Don't force yourself to get attracted by someone, these things happen when you don't force them. Why don't you come to stay in Greece for a few months? There are many more Greeks here than anywhere else!

2. To Feta: your comment did sound uncalled for. dvatwork was actually encouraging, just pointing out that no one knows the future, which is uncontroversially true. You made it sound like she was bitter, which is not the truth at all. Maybe you misunderstood her point, but yours certainly sounded like you wanted to hurt her, and I don't see why.

My question for you: If you are not attracted to anyone right now, why the desire to marry a Greek man?
After all, when the lights are out, they're all the same and want to do one thing with you...to listen to your problems and discuss them!

BTW, did anyone see my long lost cousin lately? She frequents in Greek family gatherings and loves to eat Greek delicacies, especially cheese!
Kinda abrupt and psychotic at times she loves a good (or not so good) fight,bugs everyone mercilessly but, truth be told, she's a real kid at heart.
What can we do, we just have to accept her as she is, dysfunctional and delusional, but hey, every family has one, right?

Dear Monica,

You have to be pro-active with what you want.
If you see a unattached man at your church, camp or community and if you like him, than you should talk to him and spend some time around him to get to know him.

Also, you should start taking notice of the little things that the guys do around you. Some men are shy, they won't tell you they like you, but will do things like always sit beside you when you are in church. Share a bible book with you. Linger by the doorway when everyone else is almost gone, pretend not to be waiting for you and just so happens to walk the same route you are taking. :))

So take notice of those little things and good luck and best wishes to you.
