Will I get mugged in Amsterdam?

I'm going there all alone.

No, you won't get mugged, but do watch your wallet. Pick-pockets are terrible in the train stations! Carry your wallet in your front pocket and if you're traveling with a backpack, never sit it down anywhere unattended. The city itself is safer (in my opinion) than most of the major cities I've lived in/visited in the U.S. I'm from Charlotte and I feel MUCH safer out and about in Amsterdam, even in the middle of the night! You'll have a great time!

the train station is FILLED with old junkies- they won't hurt you but it can be frightening! As a general rule for all cities, keep all your important info/ money/ possessions close to your body and dont carry more than you need. Keep your eyes open and dont go anywhere that looks shady. But dont worry, most people in Amsterdam are super helpful, very well educated and speak better English than native speakers.

You'll be fine, but if something DOES happen, here's what to do: I assume you are American. If someone starts messing with you, reach toward your waistline as if you're going for a gun and shout "I'm from TEXAS, motherf*cker, and I will shoot you in the FACE!" It worked for a friend of mine. The more f-bombs you drop the better, by the way.

just keep to yourself, don't let them stop you to ask for money or if you wanna buy some stuff, usually them are druggies. watch your wallet, there are a lot of pickpocketers out there and they are good at it as well. don't be too obvious as a tourist when you by yourself, if you need to ask for directions, go inside a store or restaurant and ask a clerk there, get a map at yuor hotel.
you'll be fine really, dutch people are cool, we all speak english.

enjoy yourself and have loads of fun

Nope, but you might have your wallet stolen if you do not watch out for pickpockets. It is otherwise absolutely safe to wander the red light district even at 1 p.m. Even the drug dealers are friendly - all they want is to sell you stuff. Say no thanks and simply walk away if you are not interested.

I have done the same and had alot of fun you'll be ok

Like in any major metropolis around the world, you can act like an idiot, provocating people and have a chance to get mugged. If you act like a decent human being, your chance of getting mugged is almost none existent.

Like in every city take care, Amsterdam is much saver then here in Antwerp.

I've never had a problem feeling unsafe in Amsterdam but I've usually gone there during the day & seeing the museums & parks & the zoo rather than going at night and visiting the bars.

Hmm..
This is like asking, will i get shot when visiting NYC alone.

Amsterdam isn`t a cesspool of evil filth - who told you that.
It is like any large city, not without its problems, but in general okay - IF you take care of yourself.

Do not advertise you are wealthy, don`t go into dark/shady alleys, don`t buy weed on the street (go in a coffeeshop) and don`t carry too much cash on you.

I'm an American living in A'dam...I meet tourists there all the time on their own. I feel more safe here than I did living in Philly or NYC. The "drug dealers" in the RLD (which is full of police and cameras, btw) don't even sell real drugs. Indeed, the biggest problems could be a pickpocket (as in any other city) or bike theft. I think the scariest thing for the tourists is all of the bikes--always look both ways before crossing a street!
