Imperial American

Will Turkeys per capita ever exceed that of Israel?

Turkeys current per capita is a little over 7,000 while Israel with less people is comparable to the most advanced of western nations , ( like 30,000 more or less ) Can anyone explain this discrepancy and tell me what life is like making a little over 7,000 a year?

There's a key word missing in your question. "Per capita" is used in many different ways: televisions per capita, cars per capita. I assume here from what little context you give that you're trying to compare per capita INCOME.

I also have to assume that the 7,000 which you're comparing to your very rough guess of 30,000 is in terms of USD. You're also not looking at Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), which brings everything into line for comparison purposes. Granted, Israel has its position on the list, and Turkey has its position. You should also compare us all to Luxembourg which has a terrific per capita income, especially when adjusted for PPP.

I'm curious about what it's like to live on 80,000 USD per year, like the residents of Luxembourg. Will the great and powerful United States EVER manage that one? Little old Luxembourg, a forgotten country in the world, and its citizens have twice the purchasing power of citizens of the United States. Go ahead Luxembourg! :D

According to Mamma Li's theory that makes Luxembourg the best arms dealer in the world! Who would have known. We need to shut down the Imperialist Luxembourg starting today! ;)

[I'm not intending to disagree with the observation about the US however. It is an established fact that overseas conflicts stimulate the economy. But that's true about Luxembourg. I just don't think Mamma Li's reasoning is valid based on the facts of the matter.]

[I also mean no offense by using the term "forgotten" in reference to Luxembourg. The nation is not a player in international politics, but it is obviously doing fine for its citizens. There's a lesson to be learned there, I'm sure]

EDIT: The point is, to address the question, that for a nation to exceed the per capita income of Israel, does not mean that it has anything to do with arms, regardless of how Israel maintains its per capita income. The Luxembourg comparison is completely pertinent, whereas the USA reference is not. (Again, I'm agreeing with the statement, but it isn't supportive of addressing the question at hand.)

Hmmm, let me look into my crystal globe... if Turkey starts spending that much money per capita for arms, why not? Somehow there is a direct correlation between spending for arms and GDP. Don't ask me how.

PS. Do you wonder NOW why USA is continuously picking up fights all over the world? Start wondering if you have not already.

Edit: High Tech is wrong. I beat him in the question below. :P

Edit 2: Thanks, Babe, from this point on whenever somebody asks me to compare Israel and Turkey, I will make the comparison according to Switzerland, i.e., are there more Jews in Israel or in Turkey... I must say there are less in Switzerland. Which has a longer coast line, Israel or Turkey? The answer is Switzerland has none... at least not of sea coasts.

We could discuss the USA example in another platform. I am not known to pull ideas out of my... erm. Maybe we can incorporate Swiss chocolate as well.

hi imperialist friend ,
life is very difficult for us with over 7,000 $ a year .
we must solve this big problem with other economical solution ,for example socialism ,rather than capitalism.
and now , mine turn :this is my question to you:
what do you think about these 2 news ,please ask this question clearly .I'm very interesting to your answers...
take care ,and see you again...

what is it like to live making $7,000 a year?

that`s our business. why are you interested so much? moreover, what`s your point? why have you been abusing the Turkey section here with your ill-suited questions?

btw, before asking silly questions, and pretending to be so clever, you better know the fact that gdp per capita does not directly translate into the average income.

I agree with Mammali Turchi , arms expenses increase the
Gross domestic product ,
