Will you stay here or move abroad? |
I have lived in the UK all my life, however i love travelling, especially abroad. I fully intend to live abroad when i retire, not sure where as yet because there are soooooo many lovely places. When i talk to my friends they all feel the same, and like me they no longer like living in the UK. Last year i went to visit a friend in Grenada, Spain. I was suprised to say the least at how many Britons lived there. If i could retire tomorrow i'd be off like a shot! What will you do? |

When i retire, Im afraid i will be leaving the UK! My families on both sides aren't from here (Half are south american, other half are polish) but i intend to skip the UK in the next 5 or so years (I'm 22 at the min, so quite a long way away from retiring) I just want to go exploring! |

It's nice to live in far away lands, after you have lived life and earned your grey hairs. I would probably stay in the UK, but enjoy the time and freedom of travelling at retirement. |

Lived in Spain for a time, then East Africa for twenty five years. Too hot and too many mosquiros and couldn't wait to get back to good old UK. Now that I am, and the way things are going here .. TO THE DOGS THAT IS .. I find myself getting more and more eager to return again to.. Africa..in particular.

I haven't lived in the UK, but judging by the amount of complaining, it's best avoided by everyone but tourists. |

me and my boyfriend plan on moving to canada in a few years time. sick of the UK, it's gone to the dogs. between the ridiculous house prices, the rubbish health service, the out of control kids, and the number of wasters on the dole, the joke that is public transport. cant wait to get out of here. oh, and the weather's rubbish too! but hey, i wasnt born here, my parents moved me here as a kid against my wishes, so i guess i always knew i'd leave. |

As soon as I am ready, I too am leaving England. Although we are a couple, we have no children or major ties.. so there isn't really any problem moving out.
I am so tired of how this country has gone down hill.. It's almost like we have been squeezed out of existence financially with the price of more or less everything!... Crime is up (even though they tell us it's down) Cost of living is up.. and as for council Tax.......
I know, I can go abroad.. have better weather.. cheaper petrol... cheaper food... less crime and a better way of life... for less!!.. there is no point staying on this miserable island that is sinking with the weight of Gordon Brown's over inflated ego.
Bon Voyage!
P.S Croatia looks nice too ;) |

Well, we decided a few years ago that, sadly, Britain was going down the pan so to speak, and , while on holiday in Cyprus, we decided that that was where we wanted to be. We went back six months later, bought a plot of land, and had our lovely little house built. We havent looked back!! We live in a lovely village where there is a good mixture of both Ex-pats, and Cypriots, and therev is a great sense of community. we often come home to find the farmer has left us a bag of fresh vegetables, or a neighbour has left a couple of lemons and limes to have with a gin & tonic!!! We once came back after a visit to the U.K. to find that one of our neighbours had planted flowers in our garden!!
I rarely worry about locking the house or the car....the crime rate is very low here......and, besides the sunshine....the standard of living is so much better. Yes....its the best thing we ever did!! |
