I'm Macedonian!!!
|
Yes, we do have that kind of tradition and I love it. Though I don't have a name-day, but I love attending my close people's name-day |
|

Pooh Bear
|
Hell yes! Any excuse for a celebration and I would expect presents like mugs with my name on it, t-shirts and all manner of other personalised gifts.
Absolutely great idea! |

There are such calendars. My roomate in Spain had one (she was Swiss). But I don't know where you would get one, not in the US. You could probably look it up. What's your name? I might even know. |

If my name were there (which it is, sort of), I would definitely do that. However, my parents are Catholic so 2.5 of my names are on the calendar already. (Annie Veronica Nickole [which comes from Nickolas]). I would do this to replace my b-day, but since it's on the same day as the feast day of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton, it wouldn't make much of a difference. My sons (Anthony Ray Nathaniel, Thomas Richard Andrew, Michael Patrick Charles) would have days where they could do that. However, people with names like Madison, Kennedy, DeAngelo and Maj could not. So I don't know if that would be entirely fair here in the US of A. |

in Greece we do celebrate our name-days but then again we just need an excuse to celebrate as much as possible :S. Its nice! another reason to see friends, family, drink, eat, get presents and have fun. |

I always celebrate my name days - but it has taken a while to convince my employer that he should give me the day off.
My actual name is David Andrew George Patrick Christ Whitsun Boxing New Year May Valentine V-E V-J Armistice Independence ANZAAC Thanksgiving April Fool Bastille Day.
So I'm not there much. |

Life in the slow lane

One birthday each year is enough. I don't want to be twice as old. |
|

Chrispy bacon, tomatoes & eggs!
|
I already do - I was named Christopher as I was born in late December.
Birthdays are, in my view, OK to celebrate but we have enough complexities without your idea adding more - for little purpose. |
|

The Real ME
|
I've never heard of that kind of celebration, but I don't think it's a good idea, as there are so many more names than just 365! I have a fairly unusual name and would probably miss out on my "name day" celebration if that were the case. |
