Would you travel to Romania, Europe?

I would, it seems like a nice place! As you say everywhere has its problems but I think that people generally think that Romania has more bad than good. But yes I would definately be interested in travelling there to visit the cities, countryside and go skiing! :)

I believe that every place has its good points and bad points. I live in the USA and I am a citizen of the USA. To tell you the truth, I have seen so much and been threw more than I can think of while being here. If I knew about the USA what I know now and I was a foreigner, I donâ€™t think I would want to visit the USA. Now I have seen beautiful things here. Waterfalls and rivers that would make the ugliest of things here seem like nothing. I have lived in good and bad places of the United States and I have stories of both good and bad to tell of them. The place that you visit is what you make of it. I believe in giving every place a chance no matter what books and others say of going there. I say that because, each person and what they like is different from the next. I have been to horrible places that others have loved... I have been to wonderful places that others gave bad reviews about. Going someplace new is like being with your soulmate... or a best friend. You never know what will happen, you have to keep a positive open mind about everything and everyone... you may see something special about a person or a place that someone else missed. Then again you may see a flaw that is unappealing to you. I would visit only because I love to travel, I have an open mind, and I have a good heart to see and appreciate things that others donâ€™t, cant and wonâ€™t give a chance.

I would first like to respond to Wahm. Have you ever been to Romania? Ever to Eastern Europe or have you ever even left your own country? Every country on this planet is plagued with pedophiles and those who prey upon the weak. I am an American Citizen and I am often disgusted by what I see next to me here in my own country. Have you ever read the sex offenders registry for your own neighborhood? I lived in Romania this past year, I worked as an intern at the United States Embassy in Bucharest. I lived the Romanian lifestyle, ate Romanian food, drank Romanian beer and so on. I have lived in Germany before as well. I intend on expanding my company's operations to Romania as it is a rapidly growing market. Those who look at a video or documentary and base their opinion on this is IGNORANT and have no room for growth in their brain. Europeans do love Americans and be prepared to answer tons of questions when traveling! They do however know a great deal about our country and I would venture to say they know more about America than most Americans and this is sad.

I visited so many wonderful cities, Brasov, Bucuresti(Bucharest), Focsani, Baia Mare and everything in between. They have the beautiful Black Sea resorts, beautiful mountains and valleys. I also visited the Republic of Moldova which has only allowed American visitors without a visa since January 2007! When I left the Embassy, I had no means of protection other than my wits and this is enough to travel. I never once feared for my safety, Bucharest is the typical large city, it has its good and bad parts. I am sure there are some areas of Detroit, New Orleans, L.A, or Miami that you wouldn't walk alone in at night. I would love to go there....in fact I was just talking about Romania as a place to go to the other day!
I lived in the UK for a while so I could travel europe, but there are so many places I want to see still and Romania is right up there actually.....after I went to Croatia and Slovenia and saw how pretty it was and how much history was there, it made me look at other places further east like Hungary ( I want to go there too), poland and Romania.
Apart from hearing its very pretty and dracula and the forests there I know very little about it...so I should learn more for my own benefit.

Ai mare,mare dreptate...si pe mine ma enerveaza de cate ori zic cuiva ca sunt din Romania aud :Ooooo Dracula.Bine asta daca nu se uita chiorash la mine si-mi intorc spatele...ca deh sa fi snob e la moda acum.
Romania are multe de oferit (e una dintre putinele tari unde intalnesti campie,dealuri,munte,mare,delta),dar din pacate nu suntem cei mai buni la promovare.Sunt optimista insa si mai sper...ca de...speranta moare ultima ;)
Oricum vreau sa-ti multumesc ca ai postat aceasta intrebare si avand in vedere ca azi e 1 dec vreau sa urez "La multi ani!" tututror romanilor din tara si celor care sunt peste hotare(dar care nu si-au uitat radacinile si nu se rusineaza ca sunt romani)!

Of course I would and I will. I live close by and there's no excuse for me not going yet, but you know how people always want to see far away places more than what's under their nose. I'm not prejudiced about it in the least and heard wonderful things about the people, the landscape, the history.
