Would you vote for Stalin? |
There have been some fascinating things posted here lately. "Stalin wasn't perfect, but who of us are? Beria wasn't that bad either. Just look at all the good they did," etc. So, I'm curious. Eastern Europeans: If Vissarionovich were alive today, would you vote for him? Additional Details We would be annoyed by the (expected) remarks about Bush et al in a question about Russian sensibilities if we did not recognise that these are the result of the dementia that heralds the final stages of AIDS. We'll miss you...
...or not. |

Russians most likely would vote for Stalin. I found that there seems to be a great deal of nostalgia for old dictators. After the Wall went down, East Germans came west and saw what they had been missing. When they realized that now they would have to work for a living, they became nostalgic for the "good old day" under Walter Ulbricht. They forgot the disappearance of people in the middle of the night.
Russians I've met are the same. They forgot the totalitarian system and its crushing of the human spirit. They remember only that neighbor helped neighbor, forgetting that neighbor spied on neighbor. |

You must be joking!
Stalin was a psychopathic individual who fell threaten by his own armed forces and intellectuals and Beria was his cowardly executioner.
It is like saying that Hitler, Goring, Goebbels or Dr.Mengele were just slightly confused people.
If some people do vote for genocidal maniacs like that, they must be traitors to their own land.
There is no chance that I would. I rather go to Siberian gulag. |

The essence of the Russian intelligence was destroyed during Stalin regime. The power engine, the dignity of Russian society was put on knees. Need more comments? THUMB DOWN. |

Would you vote for Sakaachvili ? Would you vote for Bush ?
Would you vote for Stalin ? Would you vote for most of people
who once they are elected do exactly what they want ignoring
their public opinion - including e.g. the Iraki genocide and WMD
hoax -
Stalin was proportionate to his epoch - and beside victims
most of russians supported him and realized the construction,
defence of the country and victory on Germany and all east
european allies - anyway he was not elected - but yes I would vote
for him if needed - why not ? when you consider that in other
countries Presidents such as Kennedy or Alliende have been
gunshot by fascist minorities or services sponsored by ITT. ( Chilian Academy of war marine ) |

Stalin victimized mostly Ukranians. You should ask Ukranians if they would vote for him. |

Its debatable. Probably though. |

i guess you probably won't - but the reasons why you blocked Stephan M throw doubts on your berdiaevian personal honesty - Your considerations on AIDS are everything but philosophical -
Asking a question and blocking people who give the answers you don't want is the fact of a small conscience -
Instead of asking such questions, you should go to " Jokes " section
Unblock Stephane and he will delete his reply - you can be sure - because HE has balls
"US russians" are not russians - |

I wouldn't, but im sure, there are a lot of Russians with their
mentality today certainly would.
They need to be ruled with iron fist.
Putin basically isn’t that much different, it is just - timing he lives in is
different, so he has to adjust to 21th century rules.
