Well I'm Croatian so granted I'm going to say its amazing, but really, it is! The beaches are gorgeous! Everything there is so beautiful. You should definately travel there! There are soooo many amazing things to see.

the coastal cities -makarska, tucepi, podgora, dubrovnik and all the rest are absolutely breathtaking.

zadar, zagreb, and split are all beautiful, historic cities

i was born in bosnia, so naturally i've been croatia many times although i live in the US now, i go back every summer

it's an independant country since 1992. I know many troubles with serbs....I know that there is presence of extremist nationalists groups. It's a problem for your coming in EU.

The most important thing I know is your great soccer team !!!! Yeah !

Croatia is a country like many others - some of its people are good and others are not, and it has sometimes been on the right side of history and sometimes not. During World War II in the former Yugoslavia many Croatians sided with the Nazi invaders and put their Serbian neighbors in extermination camps, so they seemed like the bad guys. At the same time, a large number of Croatians were active in the resistance movement, so they seemed like the good guys. In more recent times, the Serbians often seemed to be the aggressors and perpetrators of terrible war crimes, while the Croatians were often the victims of aggression - but there were also serious offenses by the Croatians in some cases.

Croatia and the Croatians are much like other nations and peoples, I suppose.

My impressions of Croatia:

The coastline is beautiful and is a fantastic option for an oceanside holiday. The hills of the inland landscape are supposed to be fantastic for more active pursuits like hiking, river rafting, etc.

The national football team is quite good, given the size of the country! However, I must admit that the checkerboard uniforms (clearly based on the Croatian coat of arms) are hard on the eyes! But it does make it easy to spot Croatian fans in the crowds during the World Cup!

Croatia is at the top of my list for next places i want to visit. I went to Yugoslavia back in 1982! but only to Beograd (Serbia) and Skopje (FYROM); I passed through Croatia on a train in the middle of the night :-(
I have seen pictures of Rovinj, Pula, Dubrovnik, and many of the coastal islands, and all I can say is it's absolutely beautiful! Split has a funny name, so I have to go there! Your country has a strange shape, though, so I wonder how that happened. It goes one way, then it goes another, like a person's legs. ;-)
I've also heard great things from people who have visited, so take it from this international American, I know where you are, and I'm coming to get you soon!
ps: Be careful with the word "cuntry".

Croatia is very beautiful, has good educational facilities, wonderful home cooking and loads of sporting possibilities. It is popular among the rich and famous for the island resorts - I remember reading members of the Monaco royal family went on holiday there, so that says a lot!
