Its as safe as anywhere else,you need at least 6 months touring and finding your own digs, to even begin to see the treasures that are there.GO and enjoy yourself.It is certainly the one place that every christian should see at least once it is the gateway to the past.If you are not religious the same applies,even in the mountains the springs at the side of the roads used to give out pure drinking water,it never harmed me anyway.You negotiate for everything,haggling about the price of a room for the night is good fun and character building. |

Yes it is safe I visit there regularly.Be carefull of Taxis drivers though they are often very dishonest. |
