"Democracy belongs to people of Turkey"? |
Thousands have supported this today!Protesting against fanatism and islamists, trying to keep Kemal Atatürk's dream alive.
This is Turkey that I, as a Greek and as a neighboor dream of too.
Do you share this dream? Additional Details Dear bird, as long as your country is a part of this world, you should be willing to accept questions and comments from other nations and countries!
Besides, you know well (weather you like it or not) we (Gr & Tr) are bounded and mixed in many ways. And yes we care and we are affected by ur inner policy.
And as for me, it wouldnt be good to have an islamic government ruling in my neighboor country!
I wanted to see how openminded turks feel about it. I refer to all, but if it is difficult for you, dont answer again "foreign" questions :)) |

I walked with about 2 million people last saturday in Ankara!! there were lots of people who couldn't make it to the Tandogan square. The government tried to hinder this propaganda by hanging up false leadings, reducing and delaying airplanes, trains, changing bus routes.. Still many people made it and this showed no matter what we will be there, defending what Kemal Atatürk has left us. We are the ones aware of the danger and we hope the dream will become true and Erdogan and all his supporters are out of the country. I am moved as our neighbor that you share such a wonderful dream as we Turkish people do. |

The only thing i am dreaming as greek,is to have peace with the neighbours, because we have nothing to share on personal level with them, they are human like us, they have also herat, feelings, and whatever happens, the simple people is going to pay the consequences. And be sure that all the bad which happen between the countries, are caused not from the people, but from the big forces who have their interests in those countries, and who want to seel their arms... |

Hi Tolia,
Thank you very much for your thinking and your supporting.
When we solve the problem, And I believe, some big country will be very very uncomfortable at this status.
And then what will they do ? I wonder ...
Leonardo (Maria), Thanks for your thinking...

To Seen:
Hello Seen,
Is this your real name ?
Why do not you write first of all your real name and your country ?
What do you know about Turkish People ? Have you ever been Turkiye ?
We are Muslim, but first of all Turkiye is Secular Country.
We are not Arabic Country. Please do not confuse our country with other country.

To be honest I don't understand why Greeks are so much in to our political problems, I never understood this, I am sorry to say but that does not concern you...This is got to do with Turkish, we have friends they get ever so cross when they loose a football GAME and show their true colors...
sorry but no we do not need friends like that so keep away people...
to peggy and supersonic: I can see how friendly people you are from your two faced questions and answers, I can see the hate and jeolousy, and that even if you are trying to look friendly in your words, you can not fool me sorry...
I am not afraid to say what I think...difference between the Turks and Greeks are that you get what you see from the Turks we are never two faced... |

Democracy by itself is not enough.
One has to have a rule of law, although sharia would be a set of laws, they are intricately tied to religious laws.
The problem with a religious government is that common law sometimes does not apply, and the answer is because God Wills it.
The problem is that how do you know that God wills it??
A single person should not control this much power, as people are weak and would succumb to any of the seven sins.
Greeks, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, and Armenia all have a stake in Turkey as a neighbor.
the reason it is so acrimonious is that a lot has happened in the last 2000 years for people to point to and have a problem with.
Not to mention the religious differences.
democracy must be helped by the people's understanding of democracy and the rule of law.
All neighbors should be concerned of each other - it is the right thing to do.
In the link below the article discusses a potential incursion into Iraq because of Kurdish activity on the southern border.
Hopefully if enough rights were afforded to all citizens of Turkey (or potential citizens) these things are unnecessary. |

Democracy is dangerous for nations who are not ready for it. It is the equivalent of giving a 13-year-old boy liquor and a loaded gun.
Witness what has happened to nations like Afghanistan and Iraq when democracy was imposed on them--they're in danger of sinking into sharia rule, by popular vote. Remember what happened to Germany after WW I--they elected Adolph Hitler.
Democracy is NOT a good thing, unless it is limited by a document that both limits the powers of government, and guarantees individual rights. |
