You're going to be in the fashion capital of the world, with the best shopping, greatest food, and most attractive people in the world. You're not going to have to look hard to find things to do =]

Have fun !

What a question ! You're going to be abroad, you're 14yo, you have something else to do than read books and play the DS !

During the flight, just look outside by the window (and if you really get bored, play with your DS or sleep and dream or read a book about the place you're going to - I don't really understand if it's 2 or 12 hours the flight, but just notice that usually during long flight you can watch a film or play games with something provided in the plane at your seat or on a collective screen).

Once in France, just do all what you can to discover the place where you're going to stay, go for a walk everyday, spend time with your grandparents who will probably take you out sometimes I think (I hope), go to see if there are neighbors of your age, try to read something in french even if you don't speak it, try to cook french recipe with your grandparents, take the bus and go to see another place, just relax, watch french TV just to see, listen to the radio and discover the french hits, take pictures and prepare a report for your school, send postcards to your friends, go to a supermarket to see what french eat or use and how much it cost... anyway, enjoy or go back home.

yyyyyy
you make it sound like a chore to go to France

(I know you are 14, but try pretending that this is a cool opportunity)
(even though your friends aren't going with you)

France is a BIG place
1. narrow it down a bit by finding out where you are going to be
2. try to find out what teens of your age do there
3. they probably go to school and maybe enjoy dance club on weekend
4. bicycling is their national sport, maybe you ride?
5. major food changes in store for you: look up regional foods and cuisine
6. e-mail your grandparents and find out what they have in mind
7. start learning some French if you don't already speak it
8. oversall: be open to life and its possibilitiies
9. maybe there are boys in France

Heh sounds like my trip to the Ural Mountains in Russia last summer.

I just went to the lake a lot (our city owned a lake, it was awesome) and wandered around. Bring a lot of money and buy books in French there. =)

I'm from Europe so I don't actually know the prices in you country [you said you need about 15 hours to get to France; I think I would need about 3, 4], but I tried to think about something interesting. Here's the books:
- "Twilight Saga" by Stephenie Meyer
- "The Host" by Stephenie Meyer
- "The Thirteen Tale" by Diane Setterfield
- "The Shadow of The Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
- and, less ambitious, all Meg Cabot novels.
Have a nice trip!

PS.: If you're bored, try to write something on your own. Poem, a story, anything. That really helps killing the time ;)
