24 hours in Paris; first time ever. What should I do? |
Additionally, I'm not starring in a Richard Linklater movie, so hooking up with an old flame and reigniting that lost love is flat out.
Timeframe: Late November. |

First off, I'd stay up all day and night if you can...take advantage of it...
Start off by seeing the Louvre, the Museo D'Orsay (smaller than Louvre, but equally spectacular), Notre Dame...This should take you from early in the morning until around 3pm, including a stop for lunch, outside, at a cafe.
Next, stop by the Eiffel Tower and enjoy the sunset. Depending on lines, you may or may not be able to get up into the tower, but it's worth a try.
Also, the Arch de Triumphe is amazing and is located on the Champs Elysées, the most well known street in the world. Depending on time, try to do some shopping there as well...great for people watching also.
Getting around...take taxis if you can afford it and have the time...otherwise, the underground is clean and very efficient...
Good Luck and take advantage...you can sleep on the plane ride home!! |

EAT!!! The funnest thing to do is just walk through the city and eat at the cafe's that look apealing to your. Then have coffee!! The pastry shops are wonderful and the smaller museums are great! If you have time to see the Arch, The Eifel Tower, and Notre Dame you should! |

Just came back from Paris, took 3 days and it was not my first time...
In 24 hours, don't try to see everything! Choose one thing to do, and do it fully.
If you like museums, one day is not enough for Le Louvre and Museum d'Orsay
If you want to emerge in the atmosphere of Paris, stay at the ile de la Cité (Notre Dame), then take a tour with the bateau mouche (views of many attraction from the river Seine, a good time to rest your feet), the spent the evening in the quartier Latin (starting place Saint Michel). Montmartre will not be an alternative in November.
If you like shopping, don't miss the Galeries Lafayette (also a 24 hour program...) |

I would walk through the streets. This is the best way to know a city. I would go to Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur (nice view). I would walk in areas like the "Quartier Latin", "Montmartre, "Le Marais, "Ile de la Cité", etc
I would not go to a museum for such a short period. You would have to stand in line, and then not have time to stay long enough in the museum. The Louvre is splendid but you need to stay long enough inside. |

Stay up as late as you can...
If you want...you can take a bus tour...one of those hop-on, hop-off bus tours. Or take the Metro.
The Louvre is a must. Purchase your ticket at the automated machine, grab a map and set out to find a few of the treasures (Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Winged Victory of Samothrace and whatever else strikes your fancy).
You can grab a bite to eat in the Louvre food court or step out onto Rue de Rivoli (offers some of the best souvenirs), grab a bite at a charming cafe, and walk toward the Musee d'Orsay.
The Musee d'Orsay is more manageable than the Louvre and offers rooms of Monets and van Goghs and other fantastic Impressionist artists.
The Eiffel Tower: The line can be excruciatingly long, so if you don't want to waste time shuffling your feet in the line, I'd suggest getting off at the Trocadero Metro stop, take a few photos and walk down toward the Eiffel Tower and snap a few more photos. You can do this either at the beginning or at the end of the day as it is beautiful both times.
Notre Dame Cathedral is beautiful. Absolutely breathtaking. Wander around inside this massive cathedral. If you have the time, you could climb to the top, but the liine can be quite long.
If you have time, head up to Champs-Elysees to see the Arc de Triomphe. 24 hours just isn't much time, but it'll wet your appetite to come back for more.
I'd start out hitting up the Louvre when it first opens. You don't want to rush around too much or you won't enjoy your first time in Paris. Just hit up a few of the places you've always wanted to see and experience. Then make plans to return one day. |

Take the tour bus (there are 4 lines) and you can see all Paris in a half day.It will be a lot of things in your head, but you can do more times a line you liked more, or you can get on and off where you want to see more about a place you liked.Anyway a day in Paris will fly and you must return. |
