A question for French citizens about the riots.? |
Here we go again with riots by youths in France.
As an American I'm struggling with this issue & am hoping you can help me understand.
Here in the U.S. young people don't have 1/2 the rights French youths do.
Unless you are "very poor" we have no nat'l health insurance, no free education after primary school, no maximum working hours, we have a corrupt, gov't which cares more about BIG business than our sovereignty, environment, or anything else for that matter.
But our young people won't even vote!
Now BOTH times youths were BREAKING THE LAW (hiding from police in an electrical sub-station & running from the cops on a stolen moped), & these same youths who are living in gov't provided housing, w/free healthcare, free schooling, free childcare, & in many cases there on asylum are destroying their own neighborhoods & trying to kill first responders? Why does France stand for this & why don't you bring in riot police & beat & jail or deport them? They seem spoiled to us here. |

First of all, don't say French youths. Do you think all young french people do it? No, this is just few people who have their own logic. They consider there's no law for them, they think they can do whatever they want without fearing any punishment. They don't care about the others, why would they burn their cars if they did? They have a deep anger against the police cause they are the ones who are in charge of preventing them from being "free" as they want to be. They love this war between the police and them because there's never been something serious in our country to stop them.
Of course there's poverty in France, of course some have nothing. Of course there's unemployment. Of course there's no justice for all... I agree with all who say it about french society. But let's be honnest, the ones who do the riots don't care about social revendication. They are the new generation of gangsters, even worst, cause thay have no respect for nothing. The only thing they deserve is jail. Nothing else. |

A french answers!!!!
Because in france there is much hypocrisy and even if french poor youths have few good things (as those you say) they have much more than poor youths american ( i think). You are right they don't have to blame their situation. Their situation is better than in other country like those where they are from like north africa for exemple. (for many of them who are jobless)They could work if they want but they simply don't want to...... |

you people dont know squat about the situation that most people living in the banlieues are in.....first of all, you seem to be sure that the rioters are all foreigners.....wake up, most of them are french! and yes SOME of them might be 3rd, 4th or more generation immigrants but they are no less french...... just as you might called yourself american but only being 10th generation, or so, of immigrants in the land of the first american indians.
unemployment, racism, crime, nothing better to do all day. there are many factors.
now, the youths of today, have nothing better to do than to fight police brutality BY BRUTALITY. it seems that its the only way that it works. do you really think that France has enough riot police to stop them all. there was riots ALL OVER FRANCE, from Toulouse to the north, get real! People have enough of the police bullshit and can go crazy at any moment and start breaking everything.....its a national problem that wont get away that easy. if the French police force think that they can use unnecessary force to arrest people then they are wrong. i am not saying that what the youths did was right but, two wrong dont make a right.
whatever these youngster did, they had right and their rights were violated. all the promisses that were made from SARKOZY after the 2005 riots havent been met, people are still waiting for changes that wont come any soon.
in villiers le bel, they had promissed 148millions € and they didnt even get 2millions so people are tired of waiting for something that isnt coming.
can you imagine how crazy it would be if we had right to carry weapons like in the us?!
in france we have youths rioting every so often, in the US you have ****** up people going on killing spree in school for no apparent reasons!!!! struggle with your own national issues. |
