Paris is a very reasonably priced city despite what others may have told you. It is, of course, possible to spend vast amounts of money staying at the best hotels and eating at world famous restaurants.

However, my experience in decades of traveling is that Paris offers some very good value for money and that a savvy traveler will have a wonderful time for a very reasonable price.

For example, I was in Paris just last March.

My flight from Dallas to Paris was $492 round trip.

My hotel, the St. Andre des Artes, where I have been staying for some 35 years, cost 85 euros a night for a double (with an en suite bathroom). Breakfast was included in the price.

Lunch ran 10-15 euros per person and dinner 25-35 euros per person. This was for first rate food. I'm a serious foodie and I don't deprive myself although I don't eat in Michelin 3 star restaurants.

I was out drinking, listening to music and such every night and we usually spent from 30-40 euros for our evening drinks and entertainment.

So what we're talking about is something around 225 euros a day which is about $300 for two people for everything other than airfare.

That depends on where in the world you are: Examples

New York to Paris-$700 to 1,000 airfare ( check http://www.cheaptickets.com)
London to Paris´$300 airfare
then Hotels- anything from $50 per night depending on the Hotel.
Food- Coffee $5 a cup, meals in a restaurant $30, macdonalds
food-$15. car hire-$300 per week.

Bear in mind that Paris is an expensive city, the currency there is the Euro as well, so convert from Dollars to get the local prices. If you are in the U.K then just halve the dollar prices.

I HAVE BEEN TO PARIS MANY TIMES AND IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE. A DECENT HOTEL ABOUT $300 OR MORE AND THEY HAVE THE BEST FOOD IN THE WORLD AND THE MOST EXPENSIVE. BREAKFAST ISN'T MUCH COFFEE AND CROISSANT BUT LUNCH AS MUCH AS $50-70 EACH W/O WINE FOR A GOOD MEAL AND DINNER $100-200 OR MORE. YOU COULD EAT CHEAPER BUT WHY GO TO PARIS AND NOT EAT THEIR UNBELIEVABLE FOOD. THEN ANY OTHER EXPENSES DEPENDS ON WHAT ELSE YOU WANT TO DO BUS TOURS ABOUT $30-40 EACH, TAXIS ARE HIGH, CIGARETTES ABOUT $8-9 A PACK. REMEMBER THEY USE THE EURO AND IT IS ABOUT $1.37 TO 1 EURO. SO AT LEAST $500 A DAY IF NOT MORE. IT'S NOT A CITY TO GO ON A LOW BUDGET. IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD PARIS I RECOMMEND BARCELONA SPAIN, MADRID SPAIN, PRAGUE CZECH, LISBON PORTUGAL OR BUDAPEST HUNGARY ARE SOME GREAT DESTINATIONS AND VERY MUCH MORE REASONABLY PRICED.

YOUR FLIGHT ALL DEPENDS ON WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM AND WHEN BUT WATCH OUT FOR SUMMER PRICES THEY ARE REAL HIGH. SO IF YOU PLAN ON GOING IN THE SUMMER BUY EARLY AND KNOW THAT AUGUST IS THE HOLIDAY MONTH FOR EUROPE. MOST PEOPLE GET THE MONTH OF AUGUST OFF AND GO AWAY TO THE BEACH. ALOT OF SMALL BUSINESSES CLOSE SO NOT REALLY A GOOD MONTH FOR BIG CITIES UNLESS YOU HAVE OTHER INTERESTS.
I LIVED IN BARCELONA SPAIN FOR 4 YEARS AND IT IS MY FAVORITE CITY IN THE WORLD, I HAVE TRAVELED ALOT. PARIS IS GREAT ALSO, VERY VERY EXPENSIVE. I'M FROM TEXAS SO THE COMPARISON IS DRASTIC.

GOOOD LUCK

If you'll give more details (time to stay in Paris, what kind a hotel you want, what you intend to do, to see...), I'll be glad to be helpful.

Depends on what you want to do and when you want to go. I did a week in Paris for about $1200 US (including all souvenirs) and had a great time.
I went at the end of February (off season) and found a airfare and 6 night hotel package on travelocity for $670 per person for two people. The hotel was outside the city in a town called Bussy St.Georges and was a nice Holiday Inn. I used the Metro for transportation (get a "Carte Orange" Metro pass) and bought a 3 day museum pass. We also didn't eat extravagently because we were there to see the sights. We went up the Eiffel Tower, Versailles Castle, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, Notre Dame Cathedral and Crypte, and the Museum des Moyen Ages. I also bought quite a few gifts and souvenirs so I think for $1200 I did pretty well. It helped that it was February though. It was a little chilly (slightly above freezing temps) but everything you want to see is inside anyway and the lines were non existent to not bad for the sights. For example a local guy said the line to the top of the Eiffel Tower is 2-3 hours long in the summer. We were to the top within a half hour max.

Have a good trip. Bon Voyage!

If you will contact the French embassy and tell them you can fight, they will probably pay for your trip.
