Activities for a 3-year old in Paris? |
We're taking a 3-year old to Paris but are afraid she may get bored and grumpy when we're dragging her around sightseeing. Is there anything fun for kids to do or see in Paris? Any boat tours she may enjoy? Child-friendly places?
We're going to Disneyland another day, I'm more thinking of downtown Paris.
Thankful for any ideas? |

I've taken my little ones to the Zoo at Vicennes and they love the Jardins de Luxembourg. I think he might be a tad young for the Cité de Science et de l'Industrie and it's kind of an all-day excurstion. Check it out and decide for yourself;

Last weekend when we were in Paris, we went to the Parc Floral and they loved it.

There's a little train that does a tour and plenty of places to run. It's also near the Zoo so you can do both.
My kids loved the Eiffel Tower, when we went to Paris the last time. It was kind of cold and I'll warn you, you might run into crowds now. We didn't but who wants to see it in the cold??
Do you want to do the boat down the Seine?

I'm not sure whether they have tours specific to families.
My kids loved seeing the dinasaurs at the National Natural History Museum;

It's kind of old but they enjoyed it. Also, you can visit the Jardin des Plantes nearby.
Oh and the double decker bus... I'm not going to look it up because that information is easy to find. Every city we visit, they have to take a double decker tourist bus and sit on the top. I've done it with toddlers in other cities (Rome, London and Barcelona) and have promised to do it in Paris too but we never seem to manage it.
If you search with "paris children guide", you'll get a whole bunch of sites including this one;

May I recommend that you have an easy folding stroller that you can break down quickly in the Métro? Even if he's not big into strollers anymore, you might find it handy. My daugher hates strollers but we really needed in February when we were there.
Please be careful of pickpockets because you're a target since you have a child distracting you. Also, kids like to stop and watch street musicians and preformers, where pickpockets really work their trade. Keep your belongings safe and close (not in your back pocket!) and decide what you really need to take. Photocopy your passport and lock the original in the hotel safe. They're after those more than the money!
By the way, a lot is free for children under 4 so 3 is a good age to go there.
Have fun! |

I think you should take her sightseeing, because she will remember big landmarks, like the Eiffel Tower. She won't remember going to Disney Land at age three, she's too young. |

Go to Parc Asterix, I went there and it was really fun ( i was around 10 though). It has the theme of the comic book Asterix et Obelix. |

I hope this answer, will be more helpful than the previous posters.
Paris may not be a childrens' paradise, but there's plenty to keep the kids amused as well as the adults in the "City of Light"! Here are a few suggestions:
Disneyland Resort Paris [which you said you were doing]
Parc Astérix
Foire du Trône (funfair)
Provins World Heritage Mediaeval Town
Cité des Sciences et de l'Industrie
Eiffel Tower
Elancourt: France in miniature
Thoiry: African reserve and zoo |
