Dinan is a medieval city which still has slanted streets and beautiful buildings. This is not far from Mont St. Michel and St. Malo in Brittany. Every city in France has something wonderful to share. Caen is a university city but is also the home of Guillaume de conquerant (William the conquerer). The train from Gare st.Lazare goes from Paris to Cherbourg and this is one of the stops.

All the towns have been around for centuries, in some cases thousands of years. Where ever you go in France you will be surrounded by lots of history.
If I were you I would read up on some of regions of France. There are many of them and they each have their unique traits. Maybe after doing that you will be better able to decide where you want to visit.

The following site lists all the antique markets and events in France, by region. It is only in French but you can view the regions on maps of France:

The absolute best of course is Paris, with the famous Marche aux Puce (flea market) every weekend in Clingancourt.
The next best town is Isle sur la Sorge near Avingnon which has over 100 shops.

Carcassonne. One of my own next destinations. Wonderful Medieval castle/walled city. Really pretty! (at least from the photos I've seen).
